Needles & Grooves

@TheMythOfSisyphus It's honestly starting to hit me too. I'm running out of space for new records and it's kind of becoming a hassle, Especially considering I have 4 crates already.

EDIT: my last "big" month of records currently is september with I believe 7 or 8 records coming in. I'm gonna set a goal to keep this to be my last month like that and keep the amount of records coming to around 3 or so.

I don't spend any out-of-pocket money on records right now; I've been only spending money that comes in from selling records I don't want anymore. Therefore, the monthly spending amount varies. I'm working on shrinking and tightening my record collection.

This has been a meaningful, engaging status update. Thank you @tonythegamer for posting it, and everyone else for their input and rationale behind it.

For several years after I started collecting I bought maybe two or three records a year. After I joined VMP it was probably about $100-$150 per month for about a year, which I realized wasn't the best use of my money. Decided to focus on just getting stuff I really want and will likely be playing for years to come. Now I budget about $30-$50 per month but don't always spend it.

Id say it's between 40 to even 150 depending on how much money I have on me

Seeing y’all’s vinyl budgets is inspiring and is proving super helpful to me!

For at least a year I was spending 4-500+ a month on records. That’s when I was getting a cube from VMP every month. I’ve gotten it down to under 100. Ideally I’d like to get down to under 50.

I've always given myself an allowance, that allowance though comes from other hobby sales. That being said, that allowance also covers equipment and supplies, so I really try to stick to my budget and keep part of that as a "no touch" stash just in case. If you want to reign things in the first thing you have to do is get FOMO off your back....it can be done ;)

While a member of VMP, I used to spend anywhere between $100-$250 CAD but ever since cancelling my membership, I'm now down to the odd purchase here and there and my wallet is thankful for it

on average, $0 to $50. I don't even have a working turntable anymore, so what's the point of buying ten records every month for me. there are, however, the big-boi outliers that are box sets.

I will get really bad and could get up to $200/mo. I'm around $75-$100/mo, but I've been scaling my purchases back lately so I had enough for vacation and have enough for Christmas.

I think I have a big problem and should drastically reduce the amount of money I spend in records.

@Skalap admitting you have a problem is the first step to recovery 🍻

For fear of shame I never calculate it. Feels like $100-$200 if you count clubs.

Between $100 and $300 a month. I am going to scale back purchases though. once I hit 1,000 LP's more out of space concerns than anything.

In 2018, I spent ~$2750 on vinyl; so far in 2019, I've spent under $800, (Classics, Anthology and Music Matters being the bulk of that), but that $800 has mostly come from selling records I no longer listen to and the extras I was gifted by VMP.

Probably around $200-$300. I go through waves though. When work isn't busy, I find myself browsing ebay and going to record stores more.

I probably average $500 a month.
