Yeah you’re better off just avoiding it altogether. From what I’ve heard they actually do have a couple pressings that aren’t bad, but let’s just say that’s NOT the norm at all
The community at large would likely tell you to avoid and hold out for a better pressing. The stuff they do isn't typically limited, though Maggot Brain is most definitely due for an audiophile pressing.
Thanks. I was looking at Discogs for Aretha Franklin’s 1967 album and aside from a repress from that label, it doesn’t look like there’s been a US vinyl release since 1972. I was leaning towards just getting a greatest hits of Aretha anyway, and I think that solidifies it
I have picked up a 2 or 3 when I have seen them well priced. Always the intention is to trade them in when I can get an OG or there is a good reissue. Usually digitally (cd) sourced.
I've always heard not so great things. Maybe not as bad as Plain Recordings, but, whenever I'm in a situation where there a 4 Men With Beards version and another version, I tend to go with the other version, even if it is a bit more in price.

Maggot Brain is the only thing I have by them. It's fine but that seems like the exception.
Yeah, they use CDs as sources, scanned artwork, and press (I think) exclusively at Rainbo. They unfortunately also have a great list of titles they hold the license for. It’s the same company as Plain (AKA Runt).
