Kishi Bashi announced some film screenings of his doc Omoiyari followed by a live performance with strings, and a question and answer session. I need to attend one of these. Just gotta figure it out …
Who here has seen Lankum perform live? They have a random midweek show in Delaware in Sept, and I'm very tempted. It would be hard to get out for, but if their live set is amazing (which I'm guessing it is), I'd make the effort.
As for the new/old Grandaddy song The Town where I'm Livin Now, a Sumday era b-side just released today - to think that this song didn't make it onto Sumday is such a testament to how incredible Sumday is. But good lord, this song is amazingly beautiful!
Question for US-based folks: when you're interested in a record from UK/EU but shipping is a ton, do you have go-to stateside store that usually stocks the record, and therefore helps cut down on shipping cost?
The Cure. I saw them on Sunday night and I'm still riding the high. Just unreal. Robert Smith's voice sounded better this time than 1992 and 2016 when I saw them.
If anyone gets a spotify presale code for the Slowdive tour - apparently it's happening at 10AM today - please share. Not sure why I haven't gotten an email, I follow them, and I'm most certainly a top listener.
Amazing plot twist: Little Simz sells out a Terminal Five show in NYC - a venue i refuse to ever go to again - and it sells out so quickly she announces another show night earlier at Brooklyn Steel. Hell yeah!!!!
New Slowdive album coming sept 1, single coming on Tuesday … this is just an insane week of music news in the key of "S": Sparklehorse, Sigur Ros, Slowdive
I have been excited all week in the lead up to seeing The Cure on Sunday. And then news this week of a posthumous Sparklehorse album, and then news today of a Sigur Ros album dropping at midnight?!?!!? Unbelievable. Praise the music Gods.
Grandaddy Sumday 20th anniversary announcement coming Thursday at noon EST over youtube, link on this site. I gotta think a deluxe vinyl repress is part of this, and I'd go nuts if tour dates were announced.
For all the concert tix I've purchased over the years I find it weird how bad Livenation's algorithm is. They keep sending me emails for presales for shows I don't care about.
get ready for lots of emails this week heading into Friday since it's a bandcamp friday, which then takes a couple months off and starts again in August
I need to check artists' bios more. It was only last year I learned that Grouper's Liz Harris has another band called Helen, and just now I learn she collaborated with Jefre Cantu-Ledesma for two albums as Raum.
