I sometimes just bite the bullet and pay the $15-20~ shipping depending on how badly I want it. There isn't a store that commonly stocks imports that I've relied on. This sometimes backfires because the recent Camera Obscura releases were UK only and then a couple of days later got US distribution but I was impatient and ordered quickly

If it’s something I really need I’ll just take the hit. I’ll do a search for one in the US from shops or on discogs but unless it’s someone like pop market, you’ll probably find retailers have adjusted the cost to reflect what they paid to import it and you won’t be saving much.

what record are you looking at specifically? or is this just a hypothetical? JPC.De has really great shipping prices to the US. Otherwise, Forced Exposure or Dusty Groove are good shops to order from that usually carry imports. Sometimes I'll find someone who wants a copy of the same album and buy 2 to split shipping costs.
