It's the best Metallica with semen album art that they ever released. The fact they they released multiple albums with spooge artwork really says it all.
Been tempted to do this. I haven’t bought a Metallica album since the Black album, and I’ve always judged their new stuff. I was given a CD copy of the last album and it just made me want to go back and listen to the first 4 albums.
Okay, on to Reload. Had definitely heard Fuel and The Memory Remains before. @Sonicpharmacist interestingly enough, I thought Fuel was a nickelback song.
In the 33 1/3 podcast for Black, they said that there was a rule in the band about not criticizing any one in the band. So they had Bob Rock tell Hetfield that the lyrics to enter Sandman sucked. So what happened with ALL of Where the Wild Things Are?
I mean, these are their oddest and weakest songs. PLUS THE PRODUCTION IS ATRCIOUS. I mean it is bad and sounds bad. Like what the hell kit was Lars using and what pedals were Hammet and Hetfield using, because these things should either not be sold any more or only sold to people with some kind of education and promise to use for good clause.
Hardwired probably held up the best of their post Black material. All of the “thrash” albums starting with Justice do better if you don’t try to slog through the whole thing in one listen. Well with exception of Black which just feels like a lot of fuller in between the hits.
That’s good way to put it. 72 Seasons in one sitting is a bit much. The thrash wears you down, which is why I like their 80s output that mixes in melodies.
