I got rid of my profile probably about 1.5 months. I thought it would be hard. But I have not had a single urge to look at FB since.

I killed mine somewhere around 2 years ago along will all the other social media profiles. My stress, anxiety, and anger are waaaaay down from where they were when I was on them.

Yes, that is why I did it. Stress, anxiety and anger. I can't have yet another way for the world to remind me that it is going down the crapper.

I contend that it’s not actually as bad as folks think it is. It’s not as bad as they’re being told it is by people and organizations that profit of off their psychological distress in one way or another. You want to know if the world is getting worse or getting better? Open your door and go interact with folks in your neighborhood. Work to make that better.

I seriously just texted my friend and mentioned how depressing FB is.

I'm seriously considering a delete. It is useful for sending pictures of the kids to relatives and getting info about events that are happening near me. I have been trying to curtail my use, and restrict myself to an hour or so a day. It really does bum me out and stress me out often.

I want to delete it but it is the most convenient way to stay in touch with family...as I recently left all of my family & friends in Ohio and moved to FL. But with that comes all of the arguments concerning socialism, fascism, Trump, AOC, the most god awful crimes, stories about ebola, flesh eating bacteria at beaches...and lots of record advertisements. Ugh! Maybe I need to delete it.

I've unfollowed most people on FB, so I'm left with brands and bands I like posting about stuff. It makes it pretty easy to coexist with.

I contend that if folks are truly important in your life, you’ll keep in contact with them. There are phones to call/text them with. FB is good at giving us the illusion of being involved in other people’s lives, but that’s all it is, an illusion. If you aren’t speaking to them on the phone and in/or in person, you’re not involved in their life. You’re just mutual voyeurs.

I’m sorry if I have an excessive amount to say and are too strident in my comments. It is something that I am admittedly quite passionate about. I believe that social media platforms like FB and twitter are poisonous to the human soul. They are destroying us and our relationships with people inside and out. Nobody I know who has gotten off of them has regretted it.

@Crenshaw Blvd and @nolalady - I told my family to use IG for staying in touch. I like pics more than rants anyway.

@Chucktshoes no need to apologize. I agree...but can't kick it for some reason. Maybe this is my cry for help.

@Chucktshoes - One of my neighbors got in a screaming match with the trash guy this week. And I caught another neighbor hitting their dog. I do have some neighbors that I like. But oof. Is the DC metro area just 75/25 assholes/cool people?
