edit: I guess I didn't realize there was more than one Butler in the band

so is this going to be a sleater kinney situation.. i didn't hear the new single so i just am expecting it ending bad

Based on the rest of his tweets seems like it was amicable and he just wants to do something new. He was on the new record and states he has a good relationship with everyone. With a band of their size and how long they’ve been a band (over 20 years now) I don’t see it as a bad thing.

Very odd timing

@Delta Don I mean, how? I get it’s a little out of nowhere, but they are about to go on tour. Why would he stay and bear the feeling of not wanting to be there? I agree with @wokeupnew

@highqualityrecords i have seen breakups and departures handled in a manor where the blow is delivered then followed by the delivery of “good” swan song album or something. They popped up with a new song album. Then days later this.

So it just seems odd to do it this way. Wasn’t before are alongside of new track / album. Time passed and he was like oh btw I’m out. That’s why I find it odd.

@Delta Don not that weird IMO. He was on the album. They have played some shows in the past week and people were wondering where Will was so that’s probably why he brought it up now. Album was just announced this week

@everyone I explained my subjective reasoning for the timing of the announcement in contrast to similar events I have seen unfolded. It is what it is. Just thought the roll out of a lead singer leaving would have been different.
