Seems really early to comment on, to be fair, as the media is not completely truthful. I don’t condone the behavior, to be clear, but I wouldn’t pass judgment on the entire situation. It kinda seems like the kids may be caught in the middle, as their 15 year old daughter isn’t apart of the order.

Before you start judging make sure you know all the facts

@Hollywood agreed. Not saying it isn’t true, but unfortunately journalism doesn’t exist anymore, or it is a very rare sight. Editorialization is the new normal.
For the record, Josh Homme almost certainly is a douchebag, based on his own actions, but lets be rational here.

From what I understand, the divorce and custody was highly contested. This seems to me to be a bid for full custody for mom by exploiting the system. This happens a lot with high conflict custody cases.

I’m genuinely interested to know the reason the dialect seems to be giving the benefit of doubt to Homme. I’m not saying “he’s guilty” but didn’t the “me too” movement teach us anything about not giving men such an easy pass? Can somebody explain the difference between this and a false rape allegation?

@Tys1 i could be cynical and say that its all about if you like the music or not (search your feelings you know its true)

but it also could be because there are some times where the allegations are legit fake even if unintentionally such as when someone on tumblr claimed mitski was part of a child sex ring or when connor oberst or bright eyes was accused...

also the fact that there is no other sources beyond the ex-wife giving the order... unlike plenty of "me too" situations where there is no history of active vitriol AND importantly they had everything to lose and little to their name so it could have destroyed them if they lied

@duke86fan well yes, of course there are false allegations out there. I’m just confused because the whole “me too” thing was about believing the woman/victim was it not? Like that was the whole point. But now people defending that movement seem to be doing the opposite here and I really hope you’re not right about it “being how much you like the music”.

@Tys1 Its not "giving men an easy pass". This is a situation regarding the custody of his kids. I don't think this has anything to do with the Me Too movement. I don't understand, are you saying you need someone to tell you the difference between a false rape accusation and this?

@highqualityrecords I guess I am having trouble discerning the difference as to when, without hard scientific evidence, we should believe the victim of crime involving sexual assault and when we should say “let’s just go ahead and wait for more evidence”.

Furthermore, why is this a case of a man battling for custody of his kids and not a case of a man accused of sexually assaulting a minor. I’m not trying to pick fights here, I’m just genuinely curious so that I can educate myself.

@Tys1 I think you comparing this to a sexual assault is totally a whataboutism. This is a completely different situation, with completely different circumstances. She wants him to loose his kids. You make that call I guess. This doesn't seem like a "believe all victims" situation, and honestly, too multifaceted to hash out on a vinyl record forum.
