It’s wild. I’ve considered selling my entire collection many times because of how crazy it has gotten (and how much extra $ it would net). But, not going to!
Stop paying stupid prices for pageantry. Focus on the music - that's what this hobby is supposed to be all about. Not what # is that and is this limited and is that a special color. It's about the music. The music. If that doesn't resonate, you're here for the wrong reasons. All this other shit is just a marketing money grab. The only way it changes is if you stop feeding the machine.
It's a good thing my shelves are nearing capacity because I'm not expanding past the storage space I have.
For me? I will sell items that I question taking space in the cubes/haven't been played in over a year. Other reasons will be considered.
Will be taking advantage of online sales (a rarity this year), if I do purchase more. In the meantime, I'm enjoying what I have, as I have regrettable preorders.
@Yer Ol' Uncle D agree but the issue now even standard black pressings costing a lot of money and small labels are getting unable to make vinyl presses (and its not like we can just build a shit ton more pressing plants).. i also wonder if a CD revival will start because of this
I don't buy everything like some folks around here so I don't see all the delays, but most artists I'm interested in put out vinyl, so that's always gonna be a win for me, after living through the CD only era.

Maybe not, but you can make that work for you by being more controlled with your spending. Make a hierarchy of must-haves vs. wants.
Honestly, I’m not worried about it at all. There are millions of records out there, and the unfashionable ones that become cheap will still have great stuff in it. I’ll still visit my locals, still buy stuff on Discogs, and still have fun. I’ll plow my own furrow, and whatever that provides will be fun.
However, I do wonder if prices will ever decrease. Who knows…
For me personally, it's been a good thing. I really ramped up my collection over the last three years and I just don't have the time to listen to it all. I started selling off a lot that I never touched, listened to very little, or variants that I don't really care about. With current prices, I've made quite a bit of money and it honestly feels great. Going forward, I now know I appreciate quality over quantity.
I have to echo @Colonel4Bin's sentiment. I went a bit crazy with record buying, especially over the lock down. Maybe it's a good thing for me to slow down and really consider what needs to be in my collection and what doesn't.
