That's a @LeeVing question but to me that's VG tops, if not G if it's got tape all over it.

The record was also labeled VG+ but has several very visible scuff marks and scratches. It does play better than it looks, but still, it's VG at BEST.

The seller claims to have been doing this for over 30 years and they have thousands of records in their online store. 😑

Tape on a sleeve is Good at best.

This is Goldmine grading.

There are splits and scotch tape on two of the three sides so I think even Good is being generous. To me it's Goodwill fare, and definitely not worth the $13 I paid for it.

That's total BS. Makes me mad how people abuse the grading on discogs. Just forward them the link to the discogs grading How To Grade Items. Technically though the step from VG+ to G (which is what this is) is another 35-40% discount.

Also pisses me off how sellers (and buyers) these days seem to consider VG+ a trash record. There's no such thing as Mint imo...and it's not NM if you've played it. VG+ is a really good quality record and sellers shouldn't be overgrading trash as VG+ and buyers shouldn't be worried about buying VG+.

Audible 'ticks' make a record G+? (as seen on the Discogs link above) - first I have seen that.

As a noted condition slob, I'd be peeved if I got that sleeve at anything 'nicer" than G/G+. Insane rating.

And yeah, the ticks note in the Discogs link is...interesting. Feels a bit harsher than how most people treat it.

Regarding the tape: I’d say maaaaaybe VG if the cover image looks good despite the seam split, G or G+ otherwise.

Every time I add a record to my Discogs collection, I list its condition for my own reference. If it’s a brand-new record, after the first play I mark the condition as VG+/VG+, unless I choose to leave the plastic on, in which case it’s a VG+/NM.
