Is it possible that maybe people really can think the rehearsal aspect of it was a bit trite without suddenly being a sexist? Now telling her to “really smash it”.... that I can see as a sexist remark.
I don’t think it should even be news but since it IS news then people want to speak on it, so what if they feel it was a lame gimmick, they’re not entirely wrong IMO.
Agreed although Bridgers calling Crosby a “little bitch” after the musician dubbed her recent guitar-smashing stunt on SNL “pathetic” is pretty hilarious
Yes, as somebody who doesn’t understand the appeal (Kyoto being the exception) I have experienced this as well and it’s a bit maddening how far stans (of anyone really) go on the offensive.
In either case I guess it’s a win for her and fans as I’m sure it’ll provide for some good “sad song” fodder in the future.
@Tys1@TheThinWhiteDuke the difference here is the fact that she is a white privileged female and that's where all the negative backlash stems from. Had she been a man no one would be talking about it
@Hollywood I’m confused, I think the woke generation has been spun so much it’s making itself dizzy. So now people are upset because she’s
a) white
b) privileged (see a)
c) female?
Most people who are upset about a/b are not exactly the type that are also upset with c. I’d be hard pressed to find a BLM 99%er who hates females, so I don’t think that is the correct national narrative.
@TheThinWhiteDuke its not an all or nothing type thing. The bigger point is some of the artistic criticism is driven by misogyny and current generations don’t let that bullshit slide...
...So if you just don’t like guitar smashing, cool but you then have to ask yourself (and I don’t mean “you” specifically) would you be as vocal in your criticism had Machine Gun Kelly the prior week smashed his guitar? My guess is a lot less people take issue if the big, dumb, heavily-inked mook had done the same thing.
