There's always time to see the light though. When I first started out I put the turntable on TOP of my floorstanding speakers (they were huge). Never had an issue except when turning it up over 60 db. Thought my turntable just couldn't handle that much power and dismissed it until I became more knowledgable. Good times.
My TT is on the same surface as my speakers, and I harbor deep shame because of it. But, my house has been overrun with children, and the number of surfaces that are "mine" are down to just one. At least I bought some iso pucks?
I forgot who but someone on here gifted me some foam pads to separate my speakers from the TT since they sit on the same table. It’s been very helpful to prevent skips. Ideally my perfect setup in the future they’ll be on stands.
I am guilty of this. However, I've got everything (TT and speakers) on their own isolation platforms. I can't justify stands right now with three kids running around.
True audiophiles shouldn’t even place their speakers in their own house. Particularly if you have a set of B&W Nautilus series, in which case the ideal location is in my living room and you should place them there for optimal sound quality. Then leave. Close the door behind you.
