From the beginning, I've figured that at the very least I can help someone else feel a little safer in an unsafe time, and that's something worth doing.
@Yer Ol' Uncle D that’s exactly what I said to a worker at Albertson’s, that ‘these assholes don’t give a shit about anyone but themselves”. So infuriating, especially since Great Falls has increased so much. I worked the ICU on Thursday, and 3 people died because of covid.
This will change peoples opinion on me for the negative for sure but I've gotta stay true to myself. I dont believe the masks work at all. I still go through up to 10 a day (with work & daily life) as I'm following guidelines and it makes others feel better then why not.
I have mild asthma. It has worsened this year. Proof being I am back on an inhaler for first time in about 20 years. Its either the mask thats doing it or the suspected but not verified case of covid im certain I had last December
@Jmcg85 the masks were never intended for your asthma to get better. They ARE intended for other people to not catch an infectious disease from people who may or may not have had it 10 months ago.
You didn't read it at all. I said my asthma has become worse this year than it has been for over 20 years and its either due to continued use of masks or the self diagnosed suspected covid I believe I had last year. I did not say masks would make my asthma better? @Colonel_Angus
I also said I wear up to 10 masks a day purely to make others feel safe. I just said I dont believe the masks work. You totally read whatever you wanted there @Colonel_Angus
Well its my belief and I'm entitled to it. I've well researched the subject myself. Its not so long ago WHO recommended against wearing masks (you can argue studies since of course) i would argue the agenda. Type of mask, how you wear it etc all an issue @Endtro
I mean it's a scientific fact that masks lessen the spread. I think the confusion people have with what WHO initially said is that unless it is an N95 or better it will not filter out the virus, so if you are wearing a cloth mask in a room full of people not wearing anything, then you are not protected at all.
BUT what every mask DOES do is it makes the particulate cloud that occurs when we cough or sneeze or breath or talk MUCH smaller, so that a lot less of the virus makes it through the mask into the air around us.
So if everyone in that room is wearing even a simple mask, that will greatly lower both the amount of virus that is expelled into the surrounding air and also the distance from each person that it is expelled. It takes time to do the proper testing on any new pathogen to determine how it behaves and what the best way of fighting it is so guidelines are always likely to change from the early days of any new disease.
But masks are proven to help 100 times over as long as everyone is wearing them. It doesn't mean no one in that room will get COVID. But it does mean a lot less people in that room will get it than if they weren't wearing masks at all. That's a fact.
God this reminds me of my anti-vax sister in law. She's done her own "research" on vaccines and doesn't believe they are effective. Her research was done on Google looking up studies that validate the feelings she had.
