Not sure if it’s allowed but what a scumbag move, I’d still file a PayPal claim

Holy crap. How did they not have all negative reviews by now!?

Yeah, I’m pretty sure that’s not allowed. Discogs is supposed to be Goldmine, which is why sellers can’t use the eBay favorite “EX” for example. A personal grading scheme that uses typical Discogs grades to mean something different seems super deceptive.

Cheers guys, im going to push for a refund and if not i will put a claim in. The record arrived with splits running halfway at the top and bottom, with scratches on the record which results in crackle on every track and a looped/locked groove (because of a scratch) on one side. He had it listed at VG+ VG+ and in the comments stated its more VG++ and VG++.

I’ve seen it on eBay - usually with Japanese sellers. But then it’s embedded in the product details and clearly visible and detailed IME.

I'd reach out to discogs too.

Yeah no screw that, that sounds like good/fair to me

Man, that’s crap. People on Discogs can’t figure out Gm rating, let alone some goofball “personal rating system.” Fingers crossed you can get this resolved, because it feels sketchy.

Yeah thats what I thought @Mather. In his reply he tried stating that older records like this one are usually in much worse condition and therefore this is a VG+ (VG++) in comparison. That's not how this works!!! :ROFLMAO:

That's absolutely bullshit. I'm looking at this RTJ 2 from Portugal and his reviews are like 99.3 but like every third one is "record lost in mail, payment refunded" and then also "not actually Mint more like VG" and I'm like how the hell does this guys still have 99.3?
Corycm

Yeah, Gm is not a relative or sliding scale. In 20+ years of grading media I’ve never heard anyone try and make that argument.

Also I'm changing my rating to fair/poor.

Going to start telling potential employers that my gpa in high school was 4.0 (which is based on my own system)

A lot of this mess has to do with people not understanding that Good/Fair/Poor are completely acceptable grades and that the condition alone doesn’t drive price. If we’re being honest, when you buy a new record off the shelf you’re probably dealing with a Good to VG record as a baseline. Maybe you got lucky and drew a VG+. I almost guarantee you didn’t get a M. But don’t tell Discogs idiots that.

File a claim, give negative feedback to warn others. If they give you negative feedback then file a ticket to discogs explaining retaliatory negative feedback and they’ll remove it.

Yeah, sounds like overgrading whichever way it’s cut.
