Unless you find a pristine first pressing, I feel it's more about the collectibility than anything. If you get a faithful reissue from the original tapes, that's the way to go from a sound perspective.

talk to the people angry about an album being already easy to find on first pressing for 12 bucks gets a reissue by lucifer

plus many say you should not get a new reissue and get like some 4th generation 70s pressing of an album that costs 14 bucks VG+

I'm not mad about it. I was just stating my preference. I generally agree with @Melt Face Molly Drop.

But, cost is always object to me, and I enjoy first pressings. They usually sound great and retain their value. They also are less likely to be warped than any new pressing in my experience.

If I can get a true VG+ original for $10 shipped, I'll go for that unless the album is special enough to me to warrant a great expensive reissue. Lots of albums don't have a really great reissue from the original tapes either.

And that's IF I need that album.
