The Dark Side; Digital audio equipment recommendations and setup.

Yeah streaming is third behind vinyl and cd for me but I use it a lot in the car and when I do use it at home it’s for discovery or new releases that I haven’t got around to picking up yet.

This the €400 wiim ultra appeals more than the double the price ish eversolo and fiio entry level android streamers that allow for Apple Music. The wiim allows for both tidal and Qobuz connect.

I’d go for Qobuz instantly if they had Siri for use in the car but as I don’t and as that’s my main streaming use they’re out. CarPlay integration is pointless if you have to type on a screen or pick up your phone, both of which are also just plain dangerous at the wheel.

Tidal may be the best compromise for now. Or for when I buy a streamer at any rate!
Or just do what I do and carry two streaming services. :ROFLMAO:

when swapping carts on turntable is it necessary to re-balance "zero" float tonearm again if using a digital scale? previous headshell is different & also different carts but both have similar VTF range?

Not necessary. Although I do turn the front dial on the counterweight when I'm done to match the VTF.

This is pretty:

I reviewed that- it's pretty good.

Qobuz yet again justifying its cost for me. I wanted to listen to Charley Crockett and checked to see if he was on there. He was and pretty much all of it at 48 or 96khz. I was contemplating giving in to my bad impulses and buying the vinyl of his albums. And now I won't have to.

For what it’s worth, all the vinyl I have from him was quite affordable and sounds great 😂

Qobuz Connect up and running on the EverSolo DMP-A8.

Been testing out Qobuz Connect. Sound quality is top notch.

That said, still work to be done for improvement:
- when moving to the next track I sometimes hear a skip/jump in the track at the beginning of the new song.

- tracks sometimes freeze mid song and I have to skip to next song to resume play

- I have had to reboot the EverSolo DMP-A8 2x after song freezes to get QC working again.

My network is solid. I don’t have these problems streaming to Ifi Zen Stream or DMP-A8 with Roon.

Pretty sure Qobuz is available on Roon, no?

I explained this on another forum, but the entire purpose of the Connect feature on streaming apps is to bypass additional software. No Roon. No clunky software developed by a hardware company. Let these billion dollar software companies run the software side of things.

Yes, you can use Roon or 99% of streamers’ own software. But the Connect feature is a much smoother process and the streaming platform controls the delivery straight to the device.
