It Could Get A Bit Messi In Here - The Football Thread.

Joe Mac's team could impact that greatly tomorrow.

If we get within three goals of city and I just have to take some medicine I’m not complaining. We’re shit, open defensively and toothless up front. You’ll have to do it yourselves at anfield next weekend.

Interesting to find a football ("calcio" for me...) thread here.
Big AC Milan fan here. ⚽⚽⚽

Always loved Italian football in the 90s.

When sky took the new PL onto paid satellite tv in 92 a terrestrial channel started airing a series A game st Sunday lunchtime and a highlights programme on a Saturday morning.

It was the aftermath of Italia 90 and Gazza going to Lazio and the time of the great Milan and then Juventus teams of that era. It was really the best league in that time.

Gotta say I find it a hard watch these days but my little brother has started to get into it, particularly following Cagliari since he met his fiancé, she’s from Sardinia

Love Sardegna! my family has a small apartment and I've been vacationing there for the past 35+ years, also met my wife of 27 years (although she's not from Sardegna)

I agree Serie A is not the same as it was, PL is way ahead for money and entertainment level, hard to beat.
I come from generations of Milan fans, watching matches with Gianni Rivera since the late 60s.
I've seen trophies and I've seen relegations, a life long affair. Now I hope for more matches with PL teams in the European Cups. Forza Milan!

I’m from generations of Celtic fans myself but growing up in England made following Scottish football not the most appealing thing, nothing to argue with the lads about in school on a Monday morning!

Nice! I haven’t been over myself yet, looking forward to the trip for their wedding in September, but my brother really likes it whenever he is over there.

That Milan side of the early 90s was quite something, the quality throughout was frightening. I do have a bit of a soft spot for the Juve team 95-00ish with Lippi in charge. They were who we saw as the benchmark to overcoming when we were first competing in the champions league and we had some titanic battles with them!

Yeah there are ebs and flows with the strongest league. Italy with all the large industrialists pumping money into clubs in the 90s was very strong. It took 10 years of clever rearrangement and tv money for the PL to even compete with them, and then the two Spanish behemoths, and another 15 or so for it to become dominant. It is a really good product at the moment, even if my team is a bit shit right now 😂
