I picked up Eastern Sounds (new OJC) and Bass on Top (Tone Poet), which is a TP I’d not been able to find and hasn’t yet been repressed (although i assume it will be soon). I was bummed, though, bc they had Ellington’s “Piano in the Foreground” (Classic Records) at a fair price yesterday but someone must’ve bought it bc it was gone this morning.
i loaded my cart with a few used items, signed on at 11:55 and sale was live so i checked out real quick. got the AP box set of Bach Starker for a good price.
And there are 3 copies of the excellent Lucinda Williams ~ Live at the Fillmore. 25.50 after the discount for 3 LPs. One of the best live albums out there.
Funny you mentioned that bc I checked out early, too, bc I was worried about losing Bass on Top, but the Ellington was gone much earlier this morning so I didn’t lose out from being late.
Guessing new one will be a little warmer. I wouldn’t assume it’ll sound better to everyone. I don’t have the older OJC So getting this one at a pretty good price was good for me. Plaid had it a couple bucks less than list then 15% applied to that, plus the free-shipping threshold is still $50 so no shipping charge helps too!
the comparer in me was tempted to get it....but then i remembered i still have the VMP pressing and the one step and i think it would be really difficult to beat that one step...
wouldn't be shocked if some people checked used after the email blast and picked up some stuff before the sale for fear or it selling out first. i was tempted to do that on a few things...
Damaged would mean it was received new and damaged. They wouldn’t have played it.
that's what i figured. initially i was unsure if it was used or new but damaged. and probably not worth the gamble for that price.
Bass On Top is one of my favorite TPs. Nice grab!
Almost all "damaged" that I have received from them in the past has been almost imperceptible jacket damage. I think one time there was a noticeable crease.
