Fresh Grabs

Have a bunch other new grabs since my last post, but gotta say thanks to @Ethos99 for the sale last weekend helping me fill out some holes in the discographies of these artists!

Mark Lanegan - Field Songs, Scraps At Midnight
Magnolia Electric Co - Trials & Errors, Facing Trails, Ghost Topic
The Clientele - I am Not There Anymore

Love all the Molina but I will say Fading Trails is possibly the worst sounding new album I have ever had on my turntable. Static-y AF. Hope you have better luck than me.

OMG that's awesome and I'm totally jealous!

Joe Strummer was the lead singer for The Clash. His solo stuff with the Mescaleros is pretty cool IMO.
Ah, so that's where I've heard his name. I knew it was vaguely familiar and had some kind of a grungy (though also very vague) association in my mind. I'll probably check out the music online before opening it, but sounds interesting.

I suppose I should have waited a bit before posting my last month's haul. This box just came in a few hours ago.

Juno order
Nine Inch Nails Downward Spiral - been wanting to get a vinyl copy for so long finally decided to pull the trigger on what I was hoping was the 2022 European pressing at Pallas... but I ended up getting a 2023 US pressing from GZ. Still seems to use the Pallas plates (P. USA is crossed out in the deadwax and has the GZ catalogue numbers) plus the needle drops sounded pretty damned good. So still promising.
The Beat Just Can't Stop It - 2024 SYEOR on magenta wax using the same Bernie Grundman plates as the RSD extended version - this one is only the album, which is all I need. Spinning right now, and damn this sounds great. GZ pressing, no issues.
Czarface Czartificial Intelligence - green vinyl indie version, GZ pressing. Spun it right before The Beat. Sounds great as well! Some minor scribble scratches in A3-4 because of the paper sleeve, but it's not bad and I'll live with it.
Aesop Rock and Tobacco Malibu Ken - this was way cheaper at Juno than what I can get here, so I threw it in. Makes me think of @I'm Just Ken (how the hell do you @ him with the spaces in his name anyway) for some reason I can't pinpoint. Anyway, this one needs a spa treatment in the VinylFlat before I can spin it.

So earlier, when I first put on the English Beat record, I saw the Malibu Ken sleeve sitting by the turntable - the record is currently in the VinylFlat and I hadn't packed away the sleeve yet. Anyway, the die-cut holes in the eyes and mouth were intriguing, so I thought it would be interesting to see what it would look like if I put my face behind it. I then go to the mirror in my bathroom to check what I look like, and sure enough Mirror In The Bathroom is playing! Completely unplanned. Started grooving to the song behind the mask because I can be odd like that. And it looked as weird as you can imagine. Anyway, nobody is around, thankfully.

January Acquisitions

Kid Fears - Undying Love
Sofia Kourtesis - Madres
Hikaru Utada (ヒカル宇多田) - Fantôme

Kid Fears and Hikki are courtesy of, respectively, a monthly challenge prize from @Wes C. Attle and a PIF Claim from @imajindat. Thank you again.
Madres is one of my top10 from last year, and will be particularly useful in a DJ set when electronic/house is the mood. Purchased from DeepDiscount about a month and a half ago on backorder for a reasonable price on sale with a 15% coupon code.

Neil Ardley – Harmony Of The Spheres (Decca, 1979 Signed Factory Sample Pressing)
Andy Hay - Quarks (Self-Released, 2024 Limited Pressing)
Koichi Matsukaze Trio Featuring Ryojiro Furusawa – At The Room 427 (ALM Records, 2022 BBE Limited Pressing)

A mixed bag of jazz goodies, The Neil Ardley is one of the last of his that I have been meaning to find and this has the added bonuses of being signed and a factory sample pressing. Another from the BBE J-Jazz series from Koichi Matsukaze Trio was a great cheap(ish) score. Finally another fantastic package from the British drummer which came with a hand-drawn cover, an additional piece of art, liner notes booklet, and personalised note.
