In my opinion, this is the absolute height of assholery. The email pitch, without telling you the price, is "We anticipate these selling out quickly (our first Anthology sold out in less than 3 hours) so set a reminder if you're eager to be one of the 1,000 people taking part in The Women of Motown."
If it wasn't overpriced, they'd have advertised the price. They want you to wait until orders are open, then based on BN selling out, want you to fear missing out and use that FOMO to sway you into overpaying for this WoMo set.
I understand the Blue Note set selling out in 3 hours. I'd be stunned if this new set sells out in 3 hours, much less three weeks.
I'm 99% that's the right pricing. $295 discounted rate, $265 for BN subscribers.
edit, and I sort of don't want to say how I figured it out but it wasn't really that well hidden to be honest. I don't want them to close the loophole for the next anthology since you know they're gonna withhold the price again.

So the first Anthology was on par with retail on the Tone Poet series (perhaps a buck or two more expensive per LP). What about this pricing seems remotely justified?

Nothing. It’s highway robbery. They should be ashamed of themselves.
And if they are planning to sell this out as fast as bn then we have to be honest and say there is no discounted price. (Except the 30$ for bn80 subscribers) because like blue note if you have to buy it at the first day to get it everybody getting it is getting the discounted price. So the 50$ off are just anotherg part of the fomo game.
Generally, the concept looks great, but if the rumoured price points are true i'm out of the anthology series. That's just too much for me. But they'll keep doing it at those prices ad long as it sells. It'll be interesting if that works for the motown set as well. If not, i max be lucky and grab one if they have to put them on sale.

I had been slowly talking myself into this set if the price was reasonable, but if the rumored price holds true I am out. I fail to see how they could possibly expect to sell out.
I'm in the same boat. If it was reasonable, I'm in. For $265 plus whatever shipping charges to Canada... nope

That was my general point of view. At $200-225 with the discounts, I could have talked myself into it. I was thinking $300 for list, $250 with early bird and $220 for returners. $345 is laughable.
