This is a current amplifier not the usual voltage amplifier.

This is for Moving Coil cartridges only. Moving magnet or Moving Iron (Soundsmith, Nagaoka, Grado) will not work.

Turntable must have a seperate ground wire. Regas will not work.

Other than that, it looks to be really nice.

Not interested. I’m holding out for the Argentum, for a mere $14k. o_O
 
Listened to the 20/20 for a few days over the weekend. I decided that the difference compared to my Luxman onboard just wasnt worth the price. I’m thinking that this onboard is extremely good. Maybe a jump to the Duo would be worth it, but for now I’m standing pat on the phono stage. Back to looking at the Forte III’s and then calling it a day on equipment for at least a few years. Kids getting ready for college and I want to retire at some point!

Awesome that you got to hear it at home in your system for a weekend, that's a big statement for the Luxman! One less box (and 2 less plugs!) to deal with, so it sounds like a win/win for you.

As @HiFi Guy said, it is full Class A. IMO, it’s a match made in heaven with the Klipsch Heritage line. The 20 watts is VERY misleading. Digs way deeper than any other amp I’ve owned. It’s got the bass slam of a 200w SS amp and the lushness of tubes. It runs warmer than my old Yamaha SS, but much cooler than my PrimaLuna. I love the thing. If I win the lottery, or once the kids are out of college, I might go to it’s big brother, the L590AXII. Otherwise, I'm good.

This is exactly how I feel about my 20w amp. I moved from a 120w solid state. I had no issues dropping my sub from the system, and I don't have to turn the dial nearly as far.

But unlike your Luxman, my amp can double as a space heater.

Snap! A hungry space heater, my electricity bills are considerably more expensive since it arrived too...

It’s worth it for that sweet sweet sounds from those valves...

Haha, it hasn't been too bad for me. I think for most people in Texas almost 60-70% of your average electric bill will always come from the AC.

Not everyone will agree with this, but I think you want to match your cartridge to your tonearm, and your phonostage. And match your speakers with your amp.

You want a phono that will be flexible to fit with a wide range of carts and consistently allow the phono to bring the most out of any cart. It's part of your source. If your using a clinical cart, you wan the phonostage to allow it to show that. Warm cart, you want the phono to revel that as well. A good phono will allow you to easily distinguish between carts. In theory your cartridge could/should be one of the most changed out part of a "forever" system.

But amp and speaker pairing is very important. Two great amps and speakers don't always equal a great combo together. The right amp/speaker combo can be like magic.
