Vinyl Me Please (store, exclusives, swaps, etc)

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, there is absolutely no reason for major label stuff to cost more (other than capitalism)

And again he said, par and it’s not par.

If anything capitalism says they should be less because the larger volume means the costs are less. We’ve got to stop equating unregulated gangsterism and exploitation with capitalism.

Not that I really want to delve into political and economic theory in the VMP threads, but no capitalism is industry and trade being controlled privately for profit. The market will bear what that profit may look like and this would be a high profit offering.

For the good of society is the line missing and gross overpricing to make a quick buck is not for the good of society. Capitalism fails as an ideology when it serves only the needs of a few at the top. There has been no capitalism is generations because we encourage monopolies, rather than deconstruct them, and concentrate all of the money at the top.

I have never once seen a definition of capitalism that includes “for the good of society.” It is what would like but is ultimately why it is an economic system destined to fail.

I think in all honesty there is no single definition because of how it has evolved and mutated through places and history but it is absolutely implied by the early writers like Smith. Later day liberal and anarcho capitalism are just plain evil.

My locals then mark them up to $12-$15. :/

I’m not defending any of it, but I don’t think it’s (just) VMP being greedy capitalists. They all are.

Your local has overheads that VMP doesn’t. For a D2C outfit they’re consistently way more expensive than any local I use and I live in a very expensive city in a country with a high level of VAT.
