Vinyl Storage Recommendation

Bit like me, with all the sagging as I get older! Did you do anything to fix that? I did think about it, but wasn’t sure what to do. Was considering putting a brace across the bottom.
I tried a simple brace under but no real room sadly. I have had the drawers for about 5-6 years and the sagging is not terribly noticeable. But once you know its there you can't not see it as the cases slightly lean into the middle.

Since everyone is buying the butcher blocks to put their gear on, I'm thinking it only makes sense to build an audio rack from butcher block shelves.
These look like great shelf pieces to build with.

What will you be using for the legs/frame? I thought the idea was that the butcher block sits on isolation feet of some kind to decouple the TT from the surface it is on. Would you put some kind of isolation between the butcher block shelf and the frame?

I'm not 100% sure yet.
This looks pretty good and simple to build.

yea that's pretty slick! i guess the isolation feet on the entire unit provide the same effect as isolation feet on a smaller isolation platter?

i really only have the butcher blocks to prevent footfalls since i live in a real old house with springy floors.

Yeah I bet that's a battle in itself.
You might consider cinder blocks 😉

Something like this you could build isolation into shelves at the legs since they sit in a rail.
that's what i was thinking too but it looks like those shelves are screwed into the legs as they obviously can't just be resting on there. looks like they plug up the screw holes on the sides

BBA RigidRacks if you just want to skip to the end.

Yes I agree and it looks like a solid product. It's really easy to build for a DIY type person.
The BBA is not ripping people off or anything and I'm sure shipping cost an arm and two legs these days.

I kinda like to put my own touches on things too.

My wife wants pantry shelves this spring so I'm trying to maximize the Home Depot order since I will be in good graces after the pantry😉

This is another option.
However more expensive and I don't think I want 25" shelves.
18-20" feels like a sweet spot.
But the design is killer

Yeah but since he is doing it himself, he doesn’t need to do that. Rubber spacers at the end or just making the top shelf a fully removable piece for the table are both options.

Yea I was thinking he’d want isolation on most shelves but probably only needs it for the TT. I know some folks here have isolation under every device

I might cut an isolation board for the cd player when I cut some shelves for my wife. Mostly just because I have those isoacoustic pucks doing nothing currently. lol.

I really need to play something on the tt for the two year old a see if it withstands her abuse dancing. If it doesn’t, I’m gonna need to cut a bigger shelf and use the iso pucks for the table.

The cd player didn’t care about her freaking out while playing that Sandra Boynton thing today, but it might eventually.

I was seriously considering building shelves with that butcher block and these legs (from the shop below). They come in custom widths/heights and the braces can be put at specified locations and seem reasonably priced. I never went through with it, just passing along my own research...

Oh snap! Those look great.
Bookmarked this to get some quotes.

Thanks

Anybody ever added "after-market" legs to a Kallax?

Reason being is I have to (at least temporarily) move some of my collection and storage to the basement. While it is a conditioned space and stays generally dry, I worry about putting the Kallax directly on the carpet since there could still be some humidity coming up from the 50 year old slab...

I know IKEA has a new base leg system, but I am reading that any Kallax older than a few years will be too wide to fit.

I was looking at something like these from Home Depot, with the understanding that I may need to use 6 or more to hold the weight of a 4x2 Kallax (only half full but still).

EDIT: Nevermind on that link.... Weight capacity is only 10 pounds on those...

Could always just cut up a 2x4 and lay planks.
