Even though the trailer uses the "Featuring music by MGMT" wording and plays their track "In the Afternoon" - it's only Andrew VanWyngarden on this score, no MGMT tracks. The 5 tracks he did for this isn't available on the streaming version of the score.

I haven't seen the movie - probably will never get around to it. For some reason there was a "let's make everything purple" thing that went on in a lot of indie sci-fi/horror movies that doesn't always work for me.

I should listen to this so that I can tell Train and them apart in a lineup (unlikely).
I don't think I know more than one Train song and only because it got a lot of radio play. I worked in a factory in Detroit in the 90s for a summer and there was this one guy, mullet, covered in piercings and tattoos, wore sleeveless shirts, etc. and he would only listen to Matchbox 20 and Sarah McLaughlin when it was his turn to put something on the stereo. He made us listen to it every day. Strange dude.

I mean part of me saying this and that is Train is because in a lot of ways they are all the same to me (Goo Goo Dolls, as well)… nondescript bland boring pop rock from the nineties. Hootie got a lot of shit back then but at least they were different. I also like Counting Crows (or at least those first two albums)
