BOOM SHAKA LAKA! The N&G Fantasy Basketball Thead

Peace to Brighten the corner 3 and their 7 centers lol

May they never lose the rebound and block cats
It me. Hoarding centers has been my draft strategy for this league since we started it. I'm surprised no one else has said anything. 29 OREB last night lol

Last week I got absolutely wrecked by the NBA's absurd early season schedule. I had 5 players with only 2 games.

That’s the Twolves’ strategy too

KAT is one of my 7 eligible Cs. I need him to start making his 3s.

Do you think he gets traded this year?
I have no clue. I am relatively tapped in (because I am a masochist, I guess?), and just no inclination one way or the other. They cannot keep the roster as currently constructed with this many centers, but they don’t have to make those changes until next summer either. They also got a really small sample of Rudy+Kat last year with Kat’s injury, so I believe they want to give it a real chance this season (and beating Den and Boston within a week is a great sign).

It’s an incredibly fun team to watch when Ant and Jaden and Kat and Naz are cruising, but alao so frustrating. So many TOs, so many stupid mistakes and mental lapses. Immature. Rudy is not my favorite player to cheer for (but he’s been great this year), and Kat is the most annoying obnoxious whiner on the court yet is so fun when he’s nailing 3s. He has 0 basketball intelligence, which is doubly annoying because in real life, he is well-spoken and stands up for what’s right (he has written about social justice and equality, and is an advocate of the covid vaccine). If/when he leaves Minnesota, I imagine it will be like Smart leaving Boston - a good dude who could dazzle you on the court but also could be such a doofus and I’ll root for him from afar but also be a little glad he’s not a Wolf anymore.

Thank you for letting me get that off my chest. Do you think he gets traded? And what does Morey have up his sleeve now?

I'm paying attention but with zero expectations and I'm generally aware of the 2nd or 3rd tier stars that might get moved and KAT's name pops up but not as often as a lot of other players. I don't think the sixers have enough to trade for a player of his caliber though.

Sixers set themselves up well for the trade deadline or the off-season but I have no sense of what the next move is. The consensus seems to be that both Morey and Lawrence Frank wanted to wait out the Harden trade to see who would blink first but ownership went above their heads to make it happen.

You think Philly would try to trade for KAT? The fit with Embiid and KAT would be atrocious I think...

I do think Minnie needs to trade KAT and just let this be Ant's team. I just don't realistically know what teams wanna give up for KAT. Knicks are always in rumors for KAT but I'd wager that 99% of fans don't want him, and Thibs probably doesn't want him either. Who is gonna want to pay him $50+ mil/year once that extension kicks in??

I am curious what the Knicks do, if anything. We have too many guards and need to trade some, but also the Quick and DD tandem has looked real nice. Our 2nd unit has largely looked good this season in small ball. I hope we can re-sign Hartenstein at the end of the season. Our center tandem is also crazy good. Mitch is playing DPOY caliber ball right now. Quickley is the most curious piece for me. I think he's gonna play himself into a nice contract but he clearly wants to start. If we are playoff bound at the deadline, I don't think we trade him. But I also can't see us going through the whole season with so many guards and no backup PF.

I also wonder what happens with OG. I could see the Sixers going after him perhaps...but Masai has been a crazy man on trades.

I would personally like to have KAT as long as the owners are willing to pay for the tax for multiple years. As frustrating as he can be sometimes he's potentially the best volume shooter for his size maybe ever. He'd limit what Tobias Harris would do but his expiring would have to be included in the deal. I admittedly haven't watch a ton of MIN post Gobert trade though. Him being closer to home would probably be good for him. I only see it as possible if the wolves are desperate to save tax money and there aren't many other suitors.

OG would be a perfect fit as he would for most near contenders but like you alluded to, that would mean Masai would actually have to trade one of his guys. It's worth monitoring the bulls and lavine. *whispering as quietly as possible* a healthy Gordon Hayward would be an amazing addition.

If nothing happens they have 2 near max slots in cap space in the offseason.

KAT is an infuriating player IMO. Seems to have immense talent but just doesn’t seem to have that killer instinct to dominate or really improve a ton in the offseasons. I feel like he does a lot of what Embiid does on the court so hard for me to imagine the fit unless Embiid is moved…making $50+ mil as a guy who can’t be a #1 option seems crazy to me but maybe that’s just gonna be the new normal. I’m not even convinced he can be the 2nd best player on a championship team…

I’ve given up on a “healthy” Hayward too but if Philly wants to go after him, I wouldn’t complain haha.

Masai is coasting on that championship. Seems like malpractice to let FVV walk for nothing. Siakim could be nice in Philly too.
