The Blue Note Thread

If you have $17,250 burning a hole in your pocket, you can buy the full run of the Music Matters 45rpm titles.

Various-Music Matters Blue Note Definitive 45rpm Reissue Set 322-Preowned Vinyl Record|Acoustic Sounds
It says 216 discs. So assuming they're all 2xLPs, it is 108 albums at $160 a piece. Then whatever shipping they charge on top.

Edit: also found this description kinda humorous:

"Here's an LP jazz collection that'll be a standout in any audiophile's listening room".

Yeah it was such a standout that the original owner left them all sealed and never played a single disc.

So.... .. A Bargain !

Honestly, when these came out, they were $50 a pop and he was a subscriber. It’s possible the guy had a third subscription that he did play. I know it sounds crazy, but there are guys like this.

We’re paying $150 for UHQRs, so it’s not as crazy as it seems since these were acquired over time via monthly subscription.

Sure, I can buy a couple favorite albums for $150, and I could even imagine spending that on a few MMJ albums, but that many for that much? And I was joking (kinda) about the 45 Vs 33 thing, but aren’t the MMJ 33s the definitive versions since KG upgraded his cables, so these won’t even be the best versions of some of these albums.

Anyways, I’m sure they’ll sell because there are folks out there with ridiculous money to spend on superfluous things, but still kind of wild to spend that much on records in one shot.

I still prefer the sound of the 45rpms 👀

The buyer will probably be a lawyer.

Donald Byrd - Electric Byrd blue vinyl: Same - Flat, quiet. Great pressing. Cranks like a m.....cker. Wide open, the soundstage floats. An amazing beauty of a record. Never sounded near this good.

I wasn't sure whether I'd pick this one up or not, but your review sealed the deal, so thanks! Looking forward to dropping the needle on it next week.

I think every new one ya get tends to be the best one yet 😂. I might have to get this one. I have the VMP from their anthology and another 70s copy I think but this was $28 at target last I checked
Sold out now, but yes it is stunning. I can't say all the TP releases are all exceptional. This year has some home runs! I've bought most but not all.

I've fallen behind on the Classics and Tone Poets this year, which is fine because I overdid it with them the last couple years. My last purchase was Green Is Beautiful. Any must-haves that I missed since then?
