Hip Hop

Should of stayed independent.
Since they signed the Shady deal I think WSG has released 3 projects and Conway at least 5, all of them pressed on vinyl (and sold out) and available on all streaming services. Whatever deal they signed doesn’t seem to be hindering their creativity, drive or direction one bit, IMO.

Just a gentle reminder that I think Chance The Rapper’s The Big Day is the most disappointing rap release this decade in terms of anticipating an artist’s album. In other words, this is the biggest drop in quality I’ve ever seen this decade in terms of a follow-up album. I’m still shocked by how awful The Big Day is.

I hope Chance The Rapper is doing well mentally and is not letting any of the negative opinions of The Big Day affect him much!

Everyone has a sexual assault "allegation" lol storf must just not like Nas.
No they don’t. Most artists don’t have a sexual assault allegation, trust me. Otherwise VMP wouldn’t be pressing any vinyl as they are very against sexual assault.

VMP are strict when it comes to selecting who they press. If the artists has many/obvious sexual assault allegations against them, they will not bother to press any album by them.

You kinda missing my a point a bit..

Allegation.

I can say you tried to rape me and you got an allegation lol and I bet even tho u aint heard, almost every hiphop artist has some crazy "allegations"

Storf also told me he would press 2pac up if he had the chance regardless of his history.. so if he they wont push out NAS its entirely cause they aint liking NAS cause they doing everything else xD

They also pressed 'exclusives' of both Madlib x Gibbs records... Gibbs wrote a lot of Bandana while in jail for... wait for it.. sexual assault allegations.

Just comes with being famous..if u aint got crazy allegations by atleast 1 lunatic then you just aint famous xD

its the shit thats found to be true I care about.. fk an allegation

I checked rym for the first time in a while and I was surprised to see that To Pimp A Butterfly had broken the all-time top 10.
Pretty sure that's the highest any album by a black artist has ever gotten on that site

I've never really gone on RYM but there is no way in hell Radiohead deserves to take up three spots in any top 10 of all time list, and In Rainbows is my favorite album.

DJ Shadow storage sale

Don't miss the 4th Annual DJ Shadow Storage Sale this weekend at Rappcats in Highland Park

DJ Shadow’s been busy processing an all new, fresh assortment of rare goodies for your record-hunting pleasure. The event will include:

• Thousands of new and used vinyl LPs, 45s, and 12″s culled from Shadow’s private collection of duplicates
• Deleted DJ Shadow web-store product, including limited items and rarities
• A collector’s smorgasbord of CDs, cassettes, posters, and other oddities
• Grip-free pricing
• Unique stock on both days

As with past sales, there’s a wide spread of formats on offer, including (primarily sealed) CD’s and cassettes. Price points on records range from $3 and up, with an effort to price below established online value…”So that dealers have a margin,” says Shadow. “The idea is to cater to everyone, from the casual fan on a budget, to the brick-and-mortar shop owners, on up to the grail hunters. I want even the most sophisticated collector to be like, ‘Uh, I’ve never seen half of this stuff before.'”

There will also be an EXCLUSIVE and limited 7” of “Rocket Fuel” prepared just for this sale.
Stop by this weekend, August 10-11 from 12-6pm, and hang with Shadow at Rappcats.
