Gave Womack 3 stars, that was #100. So here's my summary at the 10% mark:

Tonight we have:

Janis Joplin - Pearl which is like a ten.

Day 91 (A drunkard's dream if I ever did see one)

A couple of monstrously amazing songs on this one, of course, and most of the rest are really damn good too but it just never quite hits as a whole album for me as much as I want it to every time. Very close, but not quite. 4.44/5
Not that it's particularly relevant any more, Up on Cripple Creek is my wife and my song. Since we did not have a bar at our reception (venue was alcohol free and we were on a budget), our first dance was to Witchcraft by Frank Sinatra. I did sneak Cripple Creek into the mix for the party though (yes, I did dj my own reception). We wouldn't have used it regardless though as it was not necessarily the vibe we wanted on that day.

This is a top ten all time album for me. As a southerner, it speaks to me despite it being written by Canadians. Yes, it is a conflicting identity.

Harry Nilsson - Nilsson Schmilsson

I only recently started listening to this (I believe I gave it a go about five or so years ago when a bunch of you lot were going on about some reissue) but more recently it became a heavy swinger in my saturday morning listening, especially as it was streaming heavy for a bit in the wake of having a baby/toddler running around the house and spinning not being an all day everyday thing. I was surprised to learn exactly how much of it I already knew and it has come to be a bit of a comfort blanket of an album. I wish I knew more about him and his music, but this album is a great singer songwriter with great production. It simply kills from start to finish. 5 stars

I recently bought this on vinyl and they delivered the CD. Even though they had the vinyl in stock, they upped the price and would only give me a refund. So I'm still on the lookout for a copy. 4.5/5 leaning toward a 5.
You are feverishly hunting a copy on vinyl and I'm all like, really? I'm gonna have to listen to that? But I've gone this long... lol

Dude was kind of a brilliant mess. They cover him a bit in 1971 - Never A Dull Moment: Rock's Golden Year, seemed like one of those artists that could have been like an all time great but didn’t really give a shit all that often. The Beatles loved him and he recorded a drug-fueled album with John Lennon during his famous “lost weekend” in LA while John and Yoko were briefly broken up. That being said, when he was on his game, which he most definitely was with Nilsson Schmilsson, he was hard to beat and even when he was half-assing it, lots of his music is still an interesting listen even if it doesn’t always fully work.

Great album, My introduction to Badly Drawn Boy came by way of a Gap commercial in the early 00s.

decided to give this a go yesterday. I wasn't familiar with the book, but I just made the mistake of looking at some of the 2000's list and am going to straight up skip some of these lol. I'm looking forward to exploring a lot of older albums I'm just not very familiar with though. Day 2 is already surprising me as I was pretty sure I didn't like "Exile on Main Street" but it's not bad at all. I know it's a well regarded album, but having previously tried to dive deeper into the Rolling Stones, I came to the conclusion that I just liked the singles.

I was that way with the stones for a long time. Exile was a gateway for me. Prior to giving it a go, I had flashpoint on Sticky Fingers and figured if I never heard another Stones album, I’d be okay.

Maxwell - Maxwell's Urban Hang Suite

This album was part of the neo-soul soul revival. This album, more than any other album brought my attention to modern soul/r&b as not just the stuff I heard on the radio that was all about getting in someone's pants. I mean there is some of that here, it is Maxwell and he is smooth, but this is more of chill at night with someone you care about and want to be close to. It's an album for mature love with smooth rolling bass lines and one of the all time great singers - who is just effortless. 5 stars (had already covered this in the other thread).
