Record Store Day 2022

UK List, I still can't believe those Frightened Rabbit EP's are Europe Only.

I'm so frustrated about that. I need those EPs. Guess I'll have to find a discogs seller or perhaps order from a shop over there, but shipping will be a lot. :(

I’m totally in for DLO3, DJ&TI, Jefferson Airplane, Mariah Carey & Prince (if The Gold Experience is actually happening), maybe Chicago & Joni Mitchell too.
Apparently that Jefferson Airplane Monterey record isn’t on the US or Canada lists. That’s a shame…

Anyway, my final list for this year!

Must-Haves:
  • Prince - The Gold Experience
  • Delvon Lamarr Organ Trio - Live in Loveland!
  • Durand Jones & The Indications - Power to the People
  • Mariah Carey - #1’s
Maybe:
  • Bell Biv DeVoe - Poison
  • Elton John - The Complete Thom Bell Sessions
  • Kali Uchis - Sin Miedo (Del Amor y Otros Demonios) ♾
  • Sam Smith - Nirvana

If these pop up in leftover stock I'll buy them but I probably am not going out for RSD again this year.

  • BILLY BRAGG - LIFE'S A RIOT WITH SPY VS SPY
  • CAMERA OBSCURA - MAKING MONEY (4AD B-SIDES AND RARITIES)
  • JONATHAN RICHMAN & THE MODERN LOVERS - MODERN LOVERS 88
that Jonathan Richman record is probably my favorite album of his and is VERY hard to come by. I'm really tempted to venture out to get it, but there's 7,000 and with that many there will definitely be leftovers.

I was happy to see that in the craft email today. Have been looking for an affordable copy of the Richman for some time. I'm sure like the last few if you don't grab this version there will be a black press, but hopefully these won't run out.

Edit: weird I just assumed Having a Party... had a black press by now but I guess not, so who knows.

Beth Orton confirmed RSD re-presses of Trailer Park and Central Reservation for Record Store Day UK. Excited, as these two have been near the top of my wantlist for a while.

Oh wow I'll need to track down Trailer Park! I just posted about it in the Now Spinning thread a few days ago. I'm also in for the Big Night Soundtrack, so many fun tracks on it.

I don’t know. I looked over the list and nothing got me too excited. I’ll pick up Walkmen, and Royal Tenenbaums and Jonathan Richman I guess. Maybe Jerry Garcia, maybe Commander Venus. I will probably explore some random stuff on here and work myself up into a FOMO tizzy before RSD arrives and then drop $300 but as for now nothing is causing too much anticipation.

I'll skip out on the Bill probably. The Chet and Art Pepper are the ones I am most looking forward to for now! still scanning the list.
I gotta say, I’m pretty burnt out by the RSD live jazz releases. There’s usually 1-2 good ones a year but have been more disappointed by them as of late. I don’t know that I need any more Bill Evans live releases. I’m probably in for the Art Pepper and maybe the Blakey but that’s probably it.

seemingly a stronger list than the previous couple years, but i don' think that's saying much.

yes:
czarface - czarmageddon
roky erickson - halloween II: live 2007
peter gabriel - live blood
mel c - northern star (!!)
mmj (jim james) - live from rca studio a
mike oldfield - tubular bells II
prince - the gold experience

maybe:
v/a - watchmen
coolio - it takes a thief
everlast - whitey ford sings the blues
pearl jam - live on two legs (at qty 20600 and rsd first, this seems like it could wait...)
pixies - live at coachella 2004
the replacements - unsuitable for airplay: the lost kfai concert
ralph stanley & the clinch mountain boys - the bluegrass sound

Yeah, I'm sort of leaning the same way. Do I really need two more live Bill Evans Trio releases? There are just so many now.

yup! that's exactly where I saw it too.

I always am on the lookout for Jonathan Richman records when I'm out shopping in the wild. They're almost never repressed too. I had to double check my collection, since I could have sworn I had "Rock 'N' Roll With The Modern Lovers"

I believe "Havin a Party With" was last year's RSD release. It's going for a decent price, I might finally pick it up! Even though it's not black, the reviews on discogs are positive.
