1988 US Columbia House pressing. Still in shrink. This LP still goes for cheap. Worth picking up if u run across a nice copy.

1973 US Sonic pressing. Some minor wear and dings on cover. A few light rings marks show it’s been played a few times. Many a Cogs seller would call it NM- but I’m putting in my DB at VG+. Plays like new.

1986 US CRC pressing. Last one for tonight. Pulling, cleaning, and play grading LPs from the back can burn thru some time. Clean VG+ cover with just a couple light corner dings and just a start of ring wear. Vinyl looks unplayed and sounds like new. Solid NM- and an excellent record.

FWIW a good sounding early digital recording pressed to wax. Proudly displayed on the lower left cover.

It sounds great. I already had a full collection of OGs in nice shape but ran across a really stupid deal I couldn't refuse on the box.

That said, there are some bands/types of music that you don't need the latest, greatest pressing. I'm sure I won't articulate this thought very well at all, but I feel some records, either in an aesthetic or nostalgic way, are more enjoyable in their original state even if they may be a bit noisy, distorted or recorded less than pristinely. Sometimes, that's the charm, that's what makes them great and creates that indelible impression.

I saw Humble Pie in a club that held 500. They were loud as hell, the PA was taxed, sounded dirty and gritty and it was an absolutely glorious night of music. That experience would've been degraded by better sound and lower volume. The grit, the dirt, the sweat - they all combined to make it spectacular. Indelible.

Like I said - I won't articulate this particularly well.

The gist - the box is nice if you find a deal. If you have nice originals, don't sweat it. Put them on and turn that shit up.,
