WOAH
I can think of at least 20 bands/artists off the top of my head from the past 20 years that have been more influential

I'm not the biggest Strokes fan, but at least they have a few good songs, unlike the Arctic Monkeys who are terrible
Huey Lewis & The News belong in the pantheon of Great American Bands.
Interpol and Joy Division wish they had a song as good as Closing TimeInterpol is just Semisonic that listened to a bunch of Joy Division growing up
There’s a point where method acting goes too far and you stop playing a role and simply become the thing you’re playing. If he truly was playing the persona as a role, he passed that point a loooong time ago.Isn't that supposed to be his character or something? Like he's trying to play some dude that's a tool. I don't know, it doesn't really make sense to me. I thought he's had some clever lyrics but I always seem to zone out and get bored.

Goo Goo Dolls actually rule. All of these bands secretly wish they had the discography of Sugar Ray or the Goo Goo Dolls.
My hot take is I don't understand why anyone decided to call Interpol post-punk.Interpol is just Semisonic that listened to a bunch of Joy Division growing up
Stories don’t need to be long to be good. Up The Junction is 3:11.
Up the junction is a fantastic song and Squeeze meets my expectations as a 'real band' thanks to Black Coffee in Bed
Just to be clear. I wasn't defending him at all. Doesn't make sense to me, I just thought I remembered him saying that and was bringing it up because it seems like what you said is more true. I might be wrong about that thoughThere’s a point where method acting goes too far and you stop playing a role and simply become the thing you’re playing. Wiener punches for days.
Similarly, soundtracks that have interludes from the movie have the same effect. This was a big thing in the 90's....Here’s another one:
Skits in rap music make it almost unlistenable on vinyl.
While I’m on the topic; FJM hot take: Pure comedy is his best album
- Alice Coltrane > John Coltrane
Pure Conedy is probably my least favorite (partially due to its overall length) but my own hot take is that his first album Fear Fun is still his best.
