I've been hovering around a dozen also because time constraints but I have noticed the water being somewhat cloudy by that time as well.

think it just depends on if you have already cleaned the records in a spin clean/vacuum cleaner or not. i can usually get away with 20+ cleans on one tank but 10 or less if the records havent been cleaned in awhile/are used records.
Yeah all of mine have been washed pretty much so I’ve not had an issue. Also judging the cloudiness in the basin not in the tank because of the filter and because the tank is slightly tinted.
The only time I got that oily black residue in the tank was after cleaning a few MoFi (all of which had been previously cleaned). They don’t half use a lot of gunk on those audiophile pressings to stop them sticking to the plates!

Interesting. Haven't done a MoFi yet, so I'm going to clean my few tonight to see how the water looks afterward.

Others have also used distilled water plus a surfactant and report they get better results. I bought some Tergitol cheaply on Ebay that I'm using (only a couple of drops per litre); others here (I believe) are using Photo Flo and Ilfotol.

Mine arrived last night. Somehow I'm already up to about 50 records cleaned. It's so easy (compared with my Okki Nokki).
I'm using distilled water with 10 drops of Tergitol for 4 litres. That's about half what was recommended (it was 10 drops each) as my first solution with that produced too much foam.
Really impressed with the results so far. A couple of African records went up a grade. Best of all, my Ill Considered Christmas - which was riddled by pops and clicks despite repeated cleanings - plays perfectly now. But haven't played v much so far as my daughter tested positive for Covid and so everyone is at home. I'm going to do some before and after recordings when I have some time alone.
My only issue is when pouring the water into the tank and I didn't realise there's what look like excess water drains (like in a bath) and so the water came gushing out. I thought it was broken, but soon worked out what I'd done wrong. That's the only frustration of it really for me - pouting the water in each time. On the plus side, the girlfriend thinks it's much better than the Okki Nokki as "it doesn't smell". And for me it's quiet enough that I can work alongside. Although my kids complain they can hear it so it's now relegated to the cellar...

So basically it's a record cleaner AND it reveals how old you are depending how much you are bothered by the noise.
I think a lot the annoyance depends on how good your high frequency hearing is. Kids will hate it and I can imagine some dogs/cats will go nuts at it. It annoys the hell out of me but then I have to turn off my Dad’s anti-vermin plug every time I visit him too because it’s also an anti-Joe plug too apparently!

so the holes on the top of the water tank are where the water goes back into the tank when it drains from the main machine before entering the drying cycle. then you pour it through the filter in the front of the water tank to get any gunk out. definitely have to be careful when pouring the water back into the tank. I've found that i also need to hold the top of the water tank down when refilling the main machine because otherwise some water will leak out of the top. just a minor annoyance. overall it's still way easier to clean these records than my VPI.

Yeah, I started hitting all those old, used record store finds that were just sitting in paper sleeves that had never been spun much less cleaned. Super excited to like, actually listen to my collection now. Before it was just more trouble than it was worth to clean them all so I was only listening to new stuff.

I still clean those bad boys with my vacuum cleaner first to get all the gunk off, then i run it through the HG.
Yeah I picked two of those up last week. It took two full cleans and one full auto to get them right!

So far I've been very happy with using just distilled water but I am a bit curious if I can cut down the number of clean/dry cycles by adding an ultrasonic wash formula to the mix. Humminguru pinned this product to their Facebook group which lead me to believe that they support it:

Just ordered a qt. of Audio Intelligent Vinyl Services Enzymatic Concentrate for ultrasonic cleaning machines from Jim at Osage Audio. Haven't been happy with the sudsiness of the Audio Desk solution for some time and hope this new solution does the trick. When I had a VPI machine I was very happy with the AIVS enzymatic cleaners as they were the best products I had used in over 20 years of using a vacuum type machine. We'll see.

Yes, it’s purportedly formulated for ultrasonic machines and has been in the works ever since ultrasonic machines for record cleaning first came out. Previous experience with the AIVS solutions leads me to believe it will be a good product.
