Those worried about the pressing quality of the Jazz Refreshed re-press of Ashley Henry's 5ive - don't worry... I'm listening to mine now and it sounds mighty fine
Picked my copy up from the post office this morning. Thanks for the heads up when it came out @Skalap! I’ve been after this one since I listened to the Nubya Garcia album.

So wait, I’m able to add the two Analogue Productions Coltrane albums to my cart and check out. Will I ever get them...?

Also, will i be charged immediately for back ordered albums?
You have always been able to add backordered titles to cart on the AS website. They almost never take down items that are out of stock + print and just say "back-ordered". Not sure if you are charged--I assume not. But I remember I had something on backorder from them years ago and it just never arrived so I cancelled it.

This may have been posted elsewhere, but in this article on VMP's website it looks like the Sonny Rollins release is one of 4 collaborations between VMP and Prestige in celebration of the latter's 70th anniversary.

It sucks because I want these, but am no longer a VMP member and really worry about the pressing with all their issues lately. The Sonny Rollins is pressed at RTI supposedly...

The blue notes they did a while back were excellent. This feels like much less effort. Is this a new pressing or just a colored version of a 20 dollar widely available pressing?

Andrew Winistorfer (on the VMP subreddit) says it's the same master that's been available for some time now, just with a VMP color variant.

I believe, as @seeirwin says, it's not a new remaster, but is pressed at RTI which is nice. Everything I have from VMP that's pressed at RTI has sounded great.

That saves me some money and effort. My OJC reissue sounds fine and is in excellent condition.
Yea--I don't own it and it's been on my wantlist for awhile, so I'll debate picking it up if it makes its way to sale for non-members. I REALLY want the French pressing of it because the cover is super rad but it's quite pricey:

I don't know where it was pressed, but my OJC pressing of Saxophone Colossus was super cheap and it sounds phenomenal. If you're big on color variants, go for the VMP pressing, if not, get the standard black version, you won't be dissapointed.
Yea--maybe I'll go for that one then. Color doesn't do much for me. Thanks for the advice everybody!

Hard to keep track of the pressings on this one....discogs has 128 different versions and I didn't see RTI listed on the OJC one. I also can't see to find why Kevin Gray/Hoffman were scratched out in the dead wax on that one?
I had thought for sure I owned this record already and was surprised to find I don't after going to check to make sure my version wasn't a shitty one and I wouldn't have to consider whether replacing it with the VMP version might be a viable option. Although there aren't any indications on discogs, other people have been saying the OJC is pressed by RTI. I just decided to go with the 2017 version which very clearly states it was mastered by KG from the master tapes and pressed by QRP.

Edit: I should add that it was $23 shipped for a mint copy.

Can confirm, it sounds fantastic especially at its price point. Grabbed one for about $12 a few months ago on Amazon and really have no desire to seek out another copy.

Had VMP’s been AAA, maaaaaaaaybe, but the Original Jazz Classic’s is just fine. Well, more than fine, but you get my point.

You'll love it. Max Roach kills it in this record. His solo on Blue 7 is a highpoint in the album, but the drumming throughout is top tier, and the pressing lets you hear every detail in his playing.
