What's Spinning

I was shocked by the clarity and quality of this BGP pressing tonight: Art Blakey - ā€œBuhaniaā€

The jacket notes that this was ā€œdirect metal mastered from digital tapesā€. After looking up
the process on Wikipedia, I could see why the sound was so good. This could easily ascend to near the top of my current favorites! Will be looking up more from BGP Records!

Count Basie - The Atomic Mr. Basie (Columbia, 1958 First UK Mono Pressing)
Art Farmer Tentet - Brass Shout (United Artists Records, Japanese King White Label Sample/Test Pressing)

Im a day late as usual but yesterday, 21st August, would have been the birthdays of Art Farmer and Count Basie. I have just finished listening to Basie's booming 'Atomic Mr Basie' along with Art Farmer's 'Brass Shout'. This copy of Brass Shout is quite cool as it's a white-label Japanese King sample/test pressing. The King sleeve is super cool IMO.

Back in the 90's when I started my vinyl collecting I picked up a small stash of 45's. I got these and others at a consignment antique store booth.

All are original UK pressings....or very early repressings/reissues.
