Definitive Audiophile pressings

Looks like you’ve taken all the good Van the man! I could do with filling out my Beatles collection, and Elton also. Will have to do some googling and checking my Discogs list. Everything instantly looks better with a Japanese obi.

They didn’t have much Van and the two I got it think might actually have been US pressings, I know one of them certainly was. Maybe he wasn’t as big in Japan? They did have tonnes of Beatles and Beatles solo stuff.

Basically anything you want that’s old. Japanese Pressings are great and the are so conservative with their gradings! I’m addicted!
Yea apparently a lot of Japanese collectors actually took care of their records unlike here in the US haha.

@Bsdmr2 @AnthonyI i'd recommend thinking of albums you need better copies of and then doing a bit of research on which ones sound amazing from Japan. Some are even just using the original US or UK plates but people think they sound better because they were pressed on better quality/quieter vinyl. I was looking for Zeppelin and Pink Floyd and came across some of the recommended pressings from Hoffman forums/other sites.

edited to add: you will of course have to weed through all the "japanese pressings are awful and have no bass/exaggerated treble" nonsense on hoffman forums.

In a much better world I would have run across these at yard sale a few yrs ago when nobody wanted vinyl. In this world they r only a dream.
I think they raised the prices AGAIN on these. They were on their discogs last week. I think Deja Vu was $400 or $450?

How about japanese pressings of the Beatles? Anyone go down that rabbit hole?
I have this…
And is sounds pretty great. Mono, colored wax, Obi. It feels like a Griselda release.

I didn’t order it or anything it was $60 at my local. Cheaper than the 2016 mono reissues are going for.

Haha! And who are the pathetic single men?
Not me, that's for sure.

If they sound good, this might be a good way for me to get AAA's that are in good condition at a decent price. Looking mostly for the white album, Abbey Road and Let It Be. Probably Revolver too. The prices for most of these are very reasonable.

In my admittedly limited research on those the other week, people do seem to love those red Odeon monos. I really regret not picking up any of the breakout US mono reissues. They go for crazy prices now.
