Definitive Audiophile pressings

Yeah this is going back. It's really not good, it sounds very digital.

So I picked up the Bowie Ziggy reissue from last year, the repress of the box set remaster but the one that appears to be a different digital master than the earlier press. And I gotta say, it's pretty dang crunchy sounding, lots of treble and really not all that pleasant of a listen. Now I know that in general Bowie tends to not be the most high fidelity recordings but this one is a pretty good step down from all the others that I have from this series. I'm not sure whether that's down to this likely being a digital repress or whether it's just kinda what the album generally sounds like. Anyone with any opinions? @jamieanderson1968?

I wish I could find the proper AAA release but it's impossible now because of course this 2020 shares the same barcode and pretty much every single one listed on the Discogs AAA page was added in the past 6 months which means it's this digital version...

I have the box set version and it sounds fine, but I know there were complaints about the individual release. That said, I still prefer my Canadian OG.

Yeah I'm gunna have to go searching I guess, I'm not sure if the earlier individual one would be better but this 2020 is worse than listening on Spotify

Ouch. I think they only way to hunt a copy of the 2016 version down is one that is already opened and owned since day 1

Yeah I know, but it's impossible to find because it's the same barcode as the new digital press from 2020. And almost every single sale listing on Cogs for the 2016 issue were added in the last year, so those are all going to be the 2020. And the only ones that weren't are about $80 shipped from the UK...

You’ll have to buy the 5 years box set then, just to be certain.

Maybe go hunting for old. That album was ubiquitous enough that there has to be a good chunk of the older pressings left hanging around. Japanese Bowie pressings are nearly always a good call.
