It would often be difficult for me to pick one politician who gimps my girdle more than any others, but lately Matt Gaetz has really been doing his best to wear that douche-nozzle crown.

I have no links or particular media driving this thought - just that I can't stand Matt Gaetz and that whenever he decides to take off the "public servant" costume he is cosplaying in, he will have a lucrative media career.

Similarly, they believe the election process to be unfair.

But not because of voter suppression, gerrymandering or other reasons you would expect.

Rather, they believe the elections are rigged in the democrats favor due to illegals and high population centers who's needs and policies don't align with their own. They keep forgetting it's not land that votes, but rathe people. And because land doesn't win, the election is unfair / rigged.
 


It really bothers me that most people in America believe that a higher minimum wage means that prices will be much much higher or that they will have to hire less help. Not to mention those who think people working these types of jobs are not deserving oof higher wages or are still in high school.

The reality of it, these types of jobs are what a lot of hard working Americans have to work to get by. Either jobs dry up in an area like the rust belt, or COVID hits and people lost their jobs.

Higher wages do not mean your Taco Bell Burito is going to cost $38.

The Denmark comparison here is spot on.

But I'm sure shareholders will say that Burito will need to cost that much, because not only do they want to offset the high percentage of profits they already made of sales, they want to increase those profits.

The conservative argument against MW always stops at the supplier raising prices. They never think about how the rise in the cost of living forces them to increase wages in the future. These things don’t stop affecting variables at some imaginary point in the system.

I've formulated an argument against even this fallacy. Why don't we have a minimum wage that is on a sliding scale dependent on your employer's revenue? It could be roughly percentage based. So, let's say a locally owned record store for example is not going to have any real revenue to speak of so the default minimum wage of say $12/hr is appropos, here. You work at a Wendy's? Revenue is actually quite high so maybe you can make something like $19/hr there. Work for Amazon? Welcome to $40/hr for even the lowest employee.

Now, about the poor sap working at the record store, how does that person survive; oh yeah, M4A goes literally miles in that direction.
 
$15 an hour federal minimum wage is something Biden was to do in his first few weeks in office.

And all Republicans oppose it. There is already anger that "The Democrats" are going to shove this legislation down their throat because they now hold the majority in the senate with partisan politics further dividing America. They say it's bad policy because they have no support from the right side of the aisle.

So if you work for an idiot who can’t run their company you earn less thsn a wage you can live off? Nah sorry, doesn’t work. If you can’t afford to pay your worker a wage they can live off you can’t afford to expand to support employing that worker. Everyone should be guaranteed a certain renumeration and this should be constantly under review and set based on the living wage calculations and not on a number that some politician pulls out of their arse.

On the other hand executive pay has gotten out of control. I absolutely support having an executive not being allowed to be paid, critically including bonuses, more than a set multiplier of the lowest paid worker.

Yeah, $15 an hour minimum wage is very popular with the voting public acrossed the board. The Republicans can bitch and moan now but once it is passed it will be a non-issue. It won’t negatively impact anyone. TBH it will likely be a good thing for The GOP as Democrats won’t have the issue to campaign on (at least for a few years).

Basically, Papa John's was complaining that they would have to raise the price of their pizzas (by less than a quarter each) to afford the ACA. I remember thinking "well, I'd gladly pay 25¢ more if the employees can get healthcare."

Oh totally, Papa John is a racist asshole. Also, hindsight being what it is I bet the price for your average Papa John’s pizza has likely gone down since the ACA passed. Big chain pizza is comparable to fast food prices at this point.
