NHL Thread Because There Isn't An NHL Thread

Ontario Minister for Sport Lisa MacLeod announced Thursday that the Toronto Maple Leafs and Ottawa Senators will be allowed to host games in their home arenas this season.

"This approval was granted after close scrutiny of the rigorous health and safety protocols that will be adopted to keep players, staff, and our communities safe from the spread of COVID-19 while permitting Ontario's NHL teams to play the game we all love to watch," MacLeod said in a statement.

The decision was made "in consultation with Ontario's Chief Medical Officer of Health and with support from local officers of health in Ottawa and Toronto," the statement said.


British Columbia, Alberta, and Quebec have already given their teams permission to host games in their provinces. Manitoba has yet to give the Winnipeg Jets the green light.

The regular season is set to begin Jan. 13 with all the Canadian teams realigned into the North Division. The country's teams will exclusively play one another throughout the season.

Henrik Lundqvist is officially on the mend after undergoing open-heart surgery earlier this week.

The netminder tweeted Friday that he is on his third day of recovery and said the procedure "went really well."


Lundqvist was forced to opt out of the upcoming 2020-21 season as a member of the Washington Capitals after a recent physical revealed that a heart issue he was already aware of needed to be repaired. The 38-year-old had previously managed to play with the condition.


The Sweden native said the surgery took approximately five hours and was an aortic valve, aortic root, and ascending aortic replacement.

His playing future remains uncertain.

My regular league drafts at 6:30 pm EST on Sunday, so 4 pm EST either day is fine.
Should we get a group conversation going so the commish can get our emails?

U play thru Yahoo Fantasy Sports app/or website. We'll have a draft sometime this weekend. U can set ur lineups for the week ahead of time so unless one of ur players gets hurt u don't have to be that tied to it!
