I’m still sat here wondering how After The Gold Rush isn’t in my list. That’s the big one that I keep questioning. Also agree with GnG I nearly forgot London Calling! 16 year old Joe would have been furious. It wasn’t for lack of love but because with the whole of forever in your head critical things can slip, I don’t think my list more pure for pain in arse spoiler tags and hush hush secrecy.

The Rolling Stones - Let it Bleed

I kind of surprised myself with this decision as I made the list. But as I considered everything about it, it rose to the top.

There's not an album with a better opener/closer combo than this in my humble opinion.
(Gimme Shelter / You Can't Always Get What You Want)
And, Gimme Shelter might just be the best rock song of all time. It still raises the hair on my arms in parts, even though I have heard it countless times. Of course Merry Clayton is such a gem here, and the "woo!" we hear on mic by one of the Stones after her flat-out amazing vocal reach near the end is all so legendary. The song itself is drenched in vibe, it's hard (for me) to describe...and the band is just amazing.

I don't find any filler on this album; it's damn close to perfect...and yet if I did this list in 10 more years, maybe a different record lands the top spot.

As much as I love Let It Bleed, I could live my life never hearing YCAGWYW again and be completely fine. As far as complete albums go, I always preferred Sticky Fingers.

Got my list submitted a few minutes after midnight but fingers crossed that it will still count.

Here are #51-#70 (in no particular order):

Screen Shot 2020-12-07 at 1.25.48 AM.png

When I look at these 20 albums in isolation, it's really hard to believe that they didn't make it into my top 50 - like what other albums are there even? I love just looking at all of these beautiful album covers next to each other like this and feeling all of the positive associations and memories radiating off of these images for me. It also makes me anxiously think, "gee, I forget exactly what all is in my top 50, but they better be pretty damn good if none of these albums made the cut."

Will my top 50 albums be any good? You bet your ass they willlllllllllllll maybe be pretty good at least to me!
