I did not realize this was previously a UK only release. I like the original album and REALLY enjoyed the original recordings.
Also I won't have to pull out an album with a Confederate flag on it and feel the need to suggest, "It's a political statement" every time.
They went to Memphis recorded an album at muscle shoals with Tom Dowd and the Memphis horns. It sounded gorgeous but not 1994.
Under label pressure and the fashion of the time it was given the 90s overdubs and brickwalling treatment a few extra songs added.
Forgot about the tapes. Found a cassette of it 20 odd years later, oh wow this sounds so gorgeous. Went back to Memphis with a film crew to have the masters recut from original tapes for release.
There’s a really enjoyable doc about it on YouTube.

Ok you’ve got me on the hook. Gonna need to check this out now. I remember moving a lot of the original CD when it came out and honestly don’t recall a thing about it.
edit: ok, now I remember this album and if the original version had horns I’m in.

Oh bummer, I missed the Rough Trade drop bc work. Those were some small pressing numbers. Hopefully bdrmm gets another pressing somewhere else.
