Fresh Grabs

$20 thrift store haul. I pine for the days when thrift stores charged 25 cents per record :D, but the vinyl was really clean on all of these and he gave me about 1/3 off the prices he'd marked (and we're in the middle of a fucking pandemic and I really needed something to do), so that works for me. The Marvin Gaye Anthology is 3 LPs, so lots to work with there.

I don't usually post here mid-week but all my orders arrived at once!

Freddie Redd - The Complete Blue Note Recordings Of Freddie Redd (Mosaic/Blue Note, 1989 First Box Set Pressing)
Don Cherry - The Complete Blue Note Recordings Of Don Cherry (Mosaic/Blue Note, 1993 First Box Set Pressing)

Really excited for these! I have bid on both of them in the past but they always sell for silly money. Superfly posted a load of Mosaic boxsets but the majority were pretty expensive but these were 2 of the more reasonable (the Don Cherry usually sells for a lot more and the cheapest of Discogs currently is ridiculous. With some of the Mosaic sets, they switched stampers halfway through and the general consensus is that the the first half sets are of a better quality (top tip there!). These 2 are really low in the run (no.0399/7500 and no.0291/3500), which is fantastic!

John Coltrane Quartet - Ballads (Impulse!, 2020 Verve Acoustic Sounds Pressing)
The Horace Silver Quintet - Further Explorations (Blue Note, 2020 Tone Poet Pressing)

You cant really go wrong with these 2 series and I stumbled across these listed for £20 each on eBay (such a great steal!).

I can't quite believe this has finally arrived, its been quite the journey! What a fantastic set as well, I love all the extras like the replica poster and pamphlet. Can't wait to dig in and listen to it!

How is it? NWFT reissue just dropped in the pre-order thread as well, fyi.

Unexpectedly, this is my last outstanding delivery (for the time being).
No other pre-order...

I've been quite good with my diet!

Budos Band - Long in the Tooth
Jane's Addiction - Ritual de lo Habitual - 25th anniversary edition
Sparkle Division - To Feel embraced (illiam Basinski collabo with his producer, more accessible than his usual stuff, and clear winner of the ugliest album cover of 2020)

This week I've also got a T-shirt, thanks to @Souljacker , through the T-shirt exchange tingy that the good old @Joe Mac set up for us Euro-rejects!

Galaxie 500 - Copenhagen
Galaxie 500 - This Is Our Music
Yo La Tengo - I Am Not Afraid Of You And I Will Beat Your Ass
Orphans Of Doom - Orphans Of Doom
Run The Jewels - Run The Jewels 4
Tom Petty -
Wildflowers & All The Rest
I’ve been tightening the belt a bit with my record budget but after about a month without adding anything new I dropped by the local and picked up a few things. RTJ and Tom Petty had been on my list so I knew I was gonna grab those. They appear to have went a little overboard with both titles as they had plenty in stock, especially Petty. I think they had at least a dozen of the 3LP set and probably another half dozen on the 5LP Boxset’s. The Galaxie 500 RSD was ordered through Amoeba as they had some additional stock show up. The other Galaxie 500 was just because the local had a copy for an affordable price and it was pressed at RTI and cut by Kevin Gray. The YLT was at the local and I have been on a bit of a Kick lately. Lastly a big thanks to @LeeVing for Orphans Of Doom 7” he mistakenly received a bonus copy and sent it my way.
