Vinyl Me Please Anthology

I agree that they can sound fine, but they are far more likely to be noisy than RTI and QRP. I have had a lot of warps from all three though.
I mean yes, as I've said more times than I can count. They CAN sound fantastic! But if you were to take like 10 copies of the same album pressed by them, I'd guess about 3 or 4 of them would be riddled with no fill, or pops, or warped or that weird sparkly shit that I can't even identify but a lot of the old classics had that causes repetitive crackle.

But less warps from RTI for me. I think I’ve only had one warped disc from RTI, whereas I’ve had around 10 warped discs from QRP. But I do buy much more AP pressings + VMP Classics etc. But yeah, in my experience, MoFi’s barely come warped, the discs are always flat!

I think I went a year straight where like 4/5 records from RTI had dish warps. It was frustrating!

I'm not sure if I have any Jazz cut by him. Do you know some examples?

Youch that is a hot take. Personally, I'm a fan, a lot of the stuff I have of his do tend to be live recordings and he does a stellar job with those.

Purely anecdotal but off the top of my head, out of all the jazz reissues I own, I can't say that any of my favorite sounding pressings were done by Bernie. Most of my favorites were done by RKS or KG. I do not have a lot of live recordings though and I'm not saying the BGs I have sound bad...but I tend to like KG better. So for Takin Off, for example, I'd rather have the BN80 done by KG than a GZ press done by BG.

OK, so for all y'all who are going back and forth on this box set, to help you make up your mind about saving your money for the next big hot thing you won't have too long to wait. Starting October you'll be able to purchase 28 records during the BlissfullyChaotic Anthology reveal, you're guaranteed to love half the set!

I've had plenty of warps from RTI, countless really. MoFi and AP and MMJ records are usually always flat because they have good quality control and check the test pressings thoroughly and make sure the records are flat before they package and ship them.
Maybe I do have more RTI pressed albums but don’t know them. I associate MoFI strictly with RTI, so everything else I have couldn’t have been pressed there, but I think VMP exclusives have been pressed at RTI!

Just noticed both Chet Baker VMP exclusives in store will be pressed at RTI! I didn’t know VMP collaborated with both QRP and RTI. So I guess I’ll see if any of those two exclusives are warped! 🙇‍♂️

I assumed VMP Classics + Analogue Productions was QRP only and MoFi and One-Step SuperVinyl at RTI only! 😂

I might be wrong here but I think a few of the early Tone Poets were mastered at RTI. Im 99% sure the Wayne Shorter was and maybe the Chic Corea? I will have a look tomorrow unless someone confirms.

You’re right! I just ckecked and the first 6 stone Poet releases were all pressed at RTI! 😱

I thought they were all done at QRP!

Just got the 'Welcome to VMP Anthology: The Story of Herbie Hancock.' email and I am hyped!

For you guys that have been part of the anthology before, do they announce the dates for each 'episode' once they start shipping? Im assuming the podcasts are dropped in-line with their weekly episode breakdown?

Omg, you’re making me wanna buy it! I’m gonna have a good think for about a 3-5 days and see if I pull the trigger! 🙉🙉🙉

Im going to sell more records and if it all goes very well, I’ll buy the Boxset! 😇😍

Sorry, many. Yoshida did a bunch too. Empyrean Isles was BG for sure.
I actually listened through my green RSD Maiden Voyage and my BN75 Soul Station last night. Soul Station actually isn't bad! Pretty much clean and clear. The highs are tinny but at least they're there. Maiden is clean but sounds like it's coming through a mattress.

Ryan Smith? I really like his mastering! I really like his mastering actually!

He did the VMP Al Green’s Call Me!
i just hear his sound so much on VMP releases that i feel like he is just uninteresting... maybe i just dunno enough about how mastering engineers make an album sound and stuff but all i know is bernie grundman seems to have a heavier and harsher sound while RKS seems super analytical and stuff.. i have not heard a kevin grey or steven hoffman record tho
