Vinyl Me Please (store, exclusives, swaps, etc)

Benfica will go to bankrupt by the end of the year. They are trying to convince Cavani and Vertonghen to join them.

Vertonghen is probably doable, Cavani, even on a free will probably be silly money for a player near, if not at, the end of his career. That said you’ve sold very well and made some big profits on transfer fees over the last 5-10 years.

Pretty sure I tasted Quinta Nova last time in a restaurant and it was nice.

Most seem to be JP Ramos wines or "sub-wines". JP Ramos is one, if not the bigger, wine producer in Portugal. The others are marketed with a nice label and touristic place names and I can't trust a wine with a nice label.

Yep Portuguese clubs are very good at selling young players, not as good when buying efficient players of 25 years and more. I sometimes give a look at all the players Benfica sold in the last years and they could have a hell of a team if they didn't had to sold them to bigger teams.

These small cities is where you can see the real Portugal. I mean, I love Lisbon and if I could I would move there but is there a better thing when you are travelling than to get lost in a small city and taste some delicious family food in a small restaurant you never heard about and probably will never heard again?

That was my impression too.
I can't remember off the top of my head which city it was, but we had lunch at a family restaurant that had probably five tables, just three or for options on the menu and a house wine. It was super cheap and delicious.
My father-in-law jokes to this day (we went in 2016) that there are no bad wines in Portugal.

Yeah they’re a really good off licence and most of the stuff from Spain, France, Italy, Oz, Chile, California and South Africa is from boutique vineyard producers or smaller companies, although the bigger names are there too. I’m guessing that they’ve deemed that Portugal hasn’t yet been discovered by Irish drinkers to the point that it’s worth them buying beyond a few cases from a bigger producer. And yes a fancy label often appears to be a way of catching the customers eye to sell a lesser bottle of wine...

In Sines we went to a restaurant with a choice of two appetizers, two main courses and two desserts + a choice of cold red or white wine served in pitchers. The kitchen was 2 meters far from us, parents were cooking and their grown children were serving. All the workers were screaming the table numbers and table choices so every customer knew what you will have for dinner. There were three rows of table and customers were all talking together in different languages. We had a really great time.

I'd believe it, the grad students I worked with said there were tons of the "all you can eat" places, but that they sucked so I never got to try any lol

There are a few good ones but most are serving frozen food warmed for cheap. I went to a sushi lesson once and the teacher told us that it was easy to know if a Japanese restaurant was a real Japanese restaurant : if they serve beef and cheese yakitori skewers then these are not Japanese restaurants :p

You're probably right yes, hence my suggestion to go to this Portuguese shop on the other side of the Dublin.

I still think of that episode when I’l our of beer and in the back of my mind there’s always some Vanilla extract in the cabinet
LOL! Yeah, my Pop is a drunk, I am actually quite familiar with the random household products that can be used as a hasty substitute for booze. The nice thing about vanilla extract, mouthwash, etc. is that at least if they end up making themselves sick the puke is slightly less smelly.

You know what really annoys me, those paper sleeves Blue Note use. Even with the BN80's (which sound great) they always seem to have a lot of surface marks because of those crappy sleeves. Surely its worth paying a few pence more for a proper lined sleeve.
Thei most recent BN80 Larry Young Into Somethin! Actually had a poly-lined inner

Although I live in Mexico, whenever I've had an active VMP account I've been on a US plan, sending all my shipments to my brother who lives in California. As I was about to order the Sonny Sharrock record and cut all ties with VMP, I noticed it allowed me to change the adress so that the record would ship to my house in Mexico, and still select the "Free shipping bundled with my next order" option. 😂

What do y'all say? Shall I tempt the odds and see how VMP handles yet another mistake in their order/fulfillment system?
