Vinyl Me Please Classics

@TCell, ask Storf for a real clue this week! 1972 has my hopes up way too much.
From Storf:
“I'll give a more substantial hint later this week...

In the meantime: I have not seen anyone guess the Classics yet. The Essentials and the RHH have been guessed.”

I assume he means on Reddit for the guesses.

I’m gone for a week of Canoeing and fishing in the bush with no internet, so Storf would likely throw the “substantial hint” to a reddit mod.

I’m sure it’s been guessed, but what about The Temptations- All Directions?

edit: yes someone mentioned it a few pages back and I forgot the clue was worked with/produced a previous classics artist.

Do we think we are getting a soul or jazz album?

Thanks!

On reddit, the ones guessed at the top of the page are Return To Forever, Root Down, and Still Bill, so he probably saw those guesses.

Down the page saw:
Eddie Kendricks - People Hold On

Maybe I missed anything else? Weird no other guesses for a great year.
I went and got my hopes up for Still Bill

Second clue guess thread:

Jimmy Smith - Root Down
Chick Corea - Return To Forever
Bill Withers - Still Bill
Eddie Kendricks - People ... Hold On

First clue guess thread:

Borges/Nascimento - Clube Da Esquina
Mingus and Friends In Concert
Candi Staton
Gil Scott Heron - Free Will
Stevie Wonder - Talking Book
Keith Jarrett - Expectations
Joe Tex - I Gotcha
Funkadelic - America Eats It's Young
Curtis Mayfield - Super Fly
Annette Peacock - I’m the One
War - The World is a Ghetto
Bobby Womack - Across 110th St.
The Temptations - All Directions
Joe Henderson - Black is the Color
Julius Hemphill - Dogon AD
John Lee Hooker - Never Get out of these Blues alive
Malo
The Jimmy Castor Bunch

Tons of people guessing classic rock? Are they not familiar with the track?

Keep in mind, just because I saw them, doesn't mean Storf did.

Yeah I didnt' feel really great about any of our guesses for July Classics like I did Essentials. Especially after the last clue. And I feel like some of the would-be strong contenders had fairly recent reissues.

I think these are all the ones we guessed that I didn't see on reddit. Let me know if I missed any!

Ohio Players - Pleasure/Pain
Donny Hathaway - Live
Mingus - Let My Children Hear Music
Pharoah Sanders - Black Unity
Ornette Coleman - Science Fiction
McCoy Tyner - Sahara
Terry Callier - Occasional Rain
Luther Allison - Bad News Is Coming
Lee Morgan - Lee Morgan
Cymande - Cymande
James Brown - Get on the Good Foot
James Brown - There it is
Luther Ingram - (If Loving You Is Wrong) I Don't Want to be Right
Weather Report - I Sing The Body Electric

I would absolutely love for it to be Ohio Players, Donny Hathaway, Luther Ingram, Mingus, Lee Morgan or Pharoah Sanders! 🤞

Of those, these have recent reissues:

Donny Hathaway - Live - 2012 MOV reissue

Mingus - Let My Children Hear Music - 2010 Pure Pleasure Reissue (pretty scarce/pricey), 2012 ORG Reissue (Out of Print?)

Ornette Coleman - Science Fiction - 2014 ORG (Out of print?)

McCoy Tyner - Sahara - 2011 OJC

Cymande - Cymande - Janus/Alaska reissues

James Brown - Get on the Good Foot - 2019 Polydor reissue

James Brown - There it Is and Luther Allison - Bad News Is Coming were only reissued in Italy for Blues in Vinile. Not sure if that's grey market or what.

I really hope we get Ohio Players’s “Pleasure” because I’ve always loved that album! And “Funky Worm” was always a favourite of mine because that track was on GTA San Andreas - Bounce FM Radio Station! It’s like how I discovered them! ♥️

Have Temptations "All directions" been mentioned on reddit? Not sure if that would fit the former clues though. Would be a great album too.
