Vinyl Me Please Essentials

I think that's the RIP thread. And then I think anything about exclusives or swapping etc can go 'Store Exclusives' thread (which might need to be renamed)
Yeah we hear you. This is the #1 topic of discussion among staff right now.
I agree, look I am still doing all things VMP but I don't think it deserves special-ish treatment on here

One thing I really disliked about the old forum was people telling me to keep it on topic or to go to another thread for what I was discussing. It makes conversations seem less organic (and more "intentional"?) I haven't seen that a lot here. It'd be cool if we didn't get to that point on our new and improved forum. :)

Can you please go to the Cafe thread to discuss about discussing things.

I never cared unless it got more about the side thing than the main thing for quite awhile

The only thing different here is the VMP discussion can derail other things going on, because of the bad blood.

As a counterpoint, some of that bad blood is based off of decisions, like customer service, that are germaine to the thread(s). I don’t think anyone has just said “VMP sucks” without at least making a discussion point about some ongoing issue that likely effects all members.

You just haven't stepped into an Urban Outfitters in the past 10 years.
That’s not true. I do stop into the one in the Mall of America when I’m through there. I roll in, check the vinyl rack and roll out. I’m too old for everything else in there. We didn’t have one in Memphis until I was already in my 30s and outside of the target demo. I’ve never actually stepped foot into that one.

Has a thread not dedicated to VMP gone off track due to a VMP discussion? It feels like a little odd (and maybe disingenuous) for someone to complain about VMP being discussed in a thread dedicated to that topic. There are multiple jazz threads -- it would be obnoxious if I were to wade into one of those discussions, tell everyone that jazz was a dead art form, that the people who listen to it are out of touch and demand that all the jazz discussions be limited to a single thread so that I do not have to see so many of them.

I had been under the impression that this was going to be a community-led vinyl enthusiast forum. If a bunch of members of that community enjoy having a handful of different discussions about a specific vinyl club then let them. If you don't enjoy those discussions then don't take part, but it feels dangerous to administratively throttle those discussions because some people don't like the club in question. Honestly, this whole conversation has made me question whether I want to be a part of this community going forward -- it feels like the "cool kids" with hundreds of posts are deciding what perspectives are going to be embraced by *their* club. What is this garbage about "giving free advertising to VMP"? Is the mission of this forum to harm VMP in retaliation for shutting down their forum, and we are going to be admonished if we have something good to say about VMP? Would it be so awful if *both* this forum and VMP (and other record clubs) were wildly successful going forward? If people were able to discuss what they liked and what they didn't, and VMP maybe saw some of that feedback and improved their service accordingly? When this forum was started, I recall at least one founder stating that this was not intended to be an anti-VMP, but a broader community that included VMP members and would eventually grow into something better (and healthier) than where we came from. I couldn't agree more, and I also think that artificially limiting VMP-focused discussions is antithetical to that goal.

I get both sides to the argument, this place was born out of VMP making a bad decision and so the point is to not continue to promote VMP when many are mad at VMP and the forum doesn't want to be an official sponsor of one place, so the question is does having all these threads dedicated to VMP, I think right now it is okay to have the threads because of familiarity from the transfer but I do think it should be discussed as this forum goes forward/ages

I was 1 month deep into a 6 month subscription renewal when they dropped the hammer on the forum. I'm getting my moneys worth one way or another.
Same (well, 3 months into an annual - had re-upped to get DLS and have swapped the last two). I'm inclined to grab two this month (I have $15 credit to use up) and then close up shop...but I suppose there's a possibility that the new release in August is going to be SK...maybe? But, if July's going to be utter crap, then I'll probably cancel.

Speaking of which, for those who have cancelled - do they just simply refund your remaining months?
