Needles & Grooves AoTM /// Vol. 8 - February 2020 /// Ibeyi - Ash

I like this song. No judgment. Reminds me good memories of my childhood.

It is one of the best summer song of the 80s, agreed.

when I was in Spain last year I found it seemed like everyone there hates that song and doesn’t share the nostalgia 😂

it reminds me of, like the Time Warp, Kylie’s Locomotion and the Birdy Song, 80s school discos!

It was clearly a cash grab first and foremost, they covered/adapted/ripped of a bolivian song "Llorando se fue" and flooded TV & Radio with it in France, with an iconic music video at the time.

Now again records?

Or maybe the compilation "Doing it in the Lagos"? (songs are before his time but the compilation came out after)

I think it was pretty big across Europe though. I have definite memories of this being number 1 and them being on top of the pops as a child!

just outside Abuja in Nigeria

🤔🤔🤔

This is the location of the Zuma Rock. According to Wikipedia Zuma Rock is a large monolith, an igneous intrusion composed of gabbro and granodiorite, that is located in Niger State, Nigeria. According to Discogs, Zuma Rock Records is a label founded in 2011 by Bush frontman Gavin Rossdale and originally distributed by eOne (2011-2013), then by Sony Music Entertainment (2014-2015) and currently by Caroline International (2017->).

So it's Bush ‎– Razorblade Suitcase

Now we just need Nigerian music that mixes with Serge Gainsbourg, a shot of a bow from a random late 80s song. And from the last 36 years

Unless this new clue is about madalla or Abuja.
