It is one of the best summer song of the 80s, agreed.

Either way seems like we are getting some African music
when I was in Spain last year I found it seemed like everyone there hates that song and doesn’t share the nostalgia
it reminds me of, like the Time Warp, Kylie’s Locomotion and the Birdy Song, 80s school discos!

It was clearly a cash grab first and foremost, they covered/adapted/ripped of a bolivian song "Llorando se fue" and flooded TV & Radio with it in France, with an iconic music video at the time.
I think it was pretty big across Europe though. I have definite memories of this being number 1 and them being on top of the pops as a child!
