Vinyl Me Please Essentials

Well, I guess it's good I'm getting all three tracks because my account still doesn't work so swapping might be.... challenging.

laquers made at QRP but pressed at Gz.. meaning you get a great master of QRP and the easy fast production of Gz

surely nothing can go wrong

*its always sunny theme plays*
That colored vinyl though  seriously though, it looks great and will probably sound great but I would have much rather had a standard black press from QRP.

I rather the colour vinyl because I know it will sound magnificent! Yes, GZ have a lot of quality control issues, but that colour variant looks absolutely stunning, and the fact that it’s 1LP makes it better - meaning that you only have to worry about one disc having a defect compared to two discs!

I have this version

It doesn’t have damage to it’s cover which they can’t replace because they have no stock (only to list on sale on the website the next week) or warpage that I could fix by cleaning so I will stick with it.

Other online (and physical) retailers are available

This quote is hilarious:

"Ryan sent the lacquers to QRP first, who plated it — meaning they made the metal work — and then shipped it to GZ, who actually did the pressing, because they handle our Essentials records, and can do the effect we wanted. So it’s a slight variation on our normal process. We’re just trying it out to see if it improves the sound or not, we’ll see."

To be fair, this is similar to the way the BN80 series is done (plated at RTI, pressed @ Optimal) and that series has been excellent. But it still cracks me up that they basically are telling us that they are doing a trail run of this on one of their biggest essentials records.

I have about ten of the BN80s and they sound great when you get a good copy. I had to go through on average 3, copies of each record before I found a keeper. Same shit as GZ, non fill, warps, etc. Kevin Gray is the man, but a shitty plant is a shitty plant.

Damn thats some pretty bad luck there. All the BN80's I have picked up have been top notch first time around. Dont get me started on the BN75.........

Half the BN80’s have been perfect, the other half have had some pressing issues. But BN75.....OMFG, NEVER AGAIN!!! Literally every BN75 I’ve purchased has been so badly scratched and also have had the biggest warps. They have all gone in the bin 😭

Biggest waste of money ever. Sucks I bought them all from Amazon US. They wouldn’t reimburse me the full amount for return shipping, so it was literally a waste of money 😡

Sorry to hear that nathan, that completely sucks.

Same here. Have had zero and I mean zero problems with BN80. All have been perfect, even with those terrible paper inner sleeves the first few came in.
