Ambient / Noise / Lowercase / Field Recordings / etc.

You read the title. Discuss all things ambient, noise (yes it's music smh), lowercase, field recordings, etc.
Fitting noise and lowercase and such in here because I don't think all of those in separate threads would get much replies, and I think they're somewhat similar genres.

Anyways, what albums or songs have you been enjoying?
Any good stuff from this year?
Anything you're looking forward to?

This is a really great ambient album from this year: https://pitp.bandcamp.com/album/from-here-to-eternity

I love KBD! I can't wait for the vinyl version it's been delayed a bit so far.

What are some other ambient albums that everyone really liked this year? I've only heard a handful from established artists that I already like, but as far as new albums go I've been out of the loop.

I've really enjoyed Celer - Xièxie, The latest Caretaker is better than volumes 4 and 5, the new KBD, the latest Tim Hecker, but that's about it.

Also Celer recently opened back up their back catalog to include more older releases for Pay What You Want

Anyone get the Kankyo Ongaku Light in the Attic release?

Would like to hear some opinions on the pressing and music.

I personally love it, I got the Regular edition and haven't noticed any flaws in terms of the pressing, no cracks no pops. I put it on at least twice a week after a long day to kind of unwind to and mediate with. Music is very diverse, hints of jazz and folk litter the selections, beautiful synths on other tracks, Even a tree can shed a tear is my favorite in that compilation series but this Kankyo is not far behind at all

These are pretty sollid. Think Celer & Bvdub are my favourite ambient releases so far

I totally forgot about the new Fennesz! Also I haven't been big on any of the latest William Basinski albums but was meaning to listen to that one as well.

Thought it was great start to finish & sounds absolutely perfect.

Lowercase is like super ambient where really really quiet sounds are amplified and made hearable. There generally isn't much rhythm to it.
This is the general go-to point for lowercase by the dude who coined it, and it's basically him handling paper for 53 minutes:

I also have a flowchart, weirdly enough. It includes Lowercase music, Electro-acoustic Improvisations (EAI), and Onkoyo. Explains all three in the bottom right corner:

That’s crazy. I thought I was fairly versed in ambient but I had no idea there was this sub genre. This is literally the first time I’ve heard of it.

I lived near an Echo Libro, not even more than 100 meters away from it. Since I was in the kindergarten, most of my life has revolved around this place.

I made some of the works in this album in 2016 in an Echo Libro. Back then Mr. Xie Yugang planned to make an album on the Echo Libro and I was invited to take part in it. But Echo Books, Echo Libros, Echo Cinema – part of the few independent cultural landscapes in Dalian, co-founded by Xie Yugang and Han Linlin In 2008, got closed down one after another for some reasons, which made me very sad. Those things that have had a very great effect on me in the recent years seem to be connected to each other in many ways. In some nightmares they appear to add up to a whole event, one in which everyone is entangled.

Maybe it’s only some personal meaningless sentiment at work. I try to acknowledge its existence and accept it. It can be used as a topic for the creation for a period of time, considering it dovetails with some core of the Ambient Music. It does a great job blurring the time and making things less clear.

But it’s not completely personal, either. Some people who are unwilling to accept to be fooled or manipulated at any time have to make a tombstone with “personal meaningless sentiment” inscribed on it for their consciousness, since they have no place for it.
