Why won't the post office deliver a standard international package shipped by Deutsche Post? It's a vinyl record I ordered. They won't leave it in the digital package lockers, or ring my door bell. They just keep leaving me a "Sorry we missed you while you were out." Slip in my mailbox.

You’re being profiled for Nazi activity.

When I have had this happen to me, I never ask for re-delivery. I just ask them to hold the package at the post office for me to go in person to pick up. It’s far easier. Plus you might just have a lazy postal worker because I’ve seen them not bother ringing a doorbell and instantly waking away in instances like this.

Pet Sounds is 58 years old today. I know what I'll be listening to in just a little bit. The Beach Boys will always occupy a special place for me as that was my late father's favorite band.

BB's were also one of my late father's favorites. But, really, the pre-PS surf music. I still remember hearing songs like Be True to Your School and Help Me Rhonda on cassette as a young boy zipping around CT in his Saab. We'll soon be coming up on a year since his passing and I appreciate you bringing up these memories!

I once read an article making the case for BB's straddling two worlds and appealing to two sensibilities. The surf music appealed to conservative reactionaries toward a perceived golden age. And PS on to a progressive fan base. This fits with my father's personality (although he wasn't conservative in politics - a liberal blue state Jew - but in some of his attitudes).

i don't know if the BB were one of my dads fav bands but one of those comps they released in the '90s got a lot of play time in the family van as kids.sadly my pops is no longer with us passed away in 2018 so the BB music will always have fond memories with me and also a special place in my heart.i'm sure many others can relate to this.
I have fully committed financially to the goal of buying a home, unfortunately that means a complete hiatus on record and gear purchases (outside of component failure). It’s definitely a first world problem, but buying records was the only thing that got me out of my apartment outside of work, haven’t been to a record store since January. In the end the short term “sacrifice” will be worth the long term results.
Ya’ll this IDLES show is wow!

IDLES is a band that best translates live. I saw their live show last summer and it gave me a whole new appreciation for them.

@nolalady I had been aware of them for a while but didn't really start listening to them a few years ago along with their Tiny Desk appearance. But yes, they were fantastic!
Printed inner sleeves are the devil!

I do what @kvetcha does. I received a used record that did this and have been doing it ever since to save room

I got my copy of Pysence Fiction yesterday and the discs had so much static that they were effectively glued into the sleeves. I actually split the seam on the first disc getting imthe damn thing out.

FTR, I keep printed inners and they go back in the jacket. All records get rice paper sleeves and go between the jacket and the outer.
Happy 5 years of Needles and Grooves, everybody. The ashes of the VMP forum provided the perfect fertiliser for something truly beautiful.

Also…Hey @Dead C I don’t get on insta all that much or here either for that matter, but I do follow and I wanted to say thanks for doing me a solid and turning me on to Hey, Nothing.
Was going to buy a ticket for Jessica Pratt on her Portland stop next month at $25 pre fees, but the online + ticket fees made the grand total just over $38. Over 52% of the ticket price. It wasn't even TicketMaster, but rather eTix.
Noped out.
Snagged a last-minute face value ticket to Sleep Token tonight after refreshing official fan resale all morning. Fuck Ticketmaster anyways.

Always and anyways.

On top of that, the ticket drop was a complete shitshow.

@Corycm The worst I've ever experienced. Surprised the band didn't acknowledge how awful everything was after the fact considering their own presale code distribution was botched.
23 years ago today was the first time I saw Saul Williams live, accompanied by a full band at a club in the Gastown district of Vancouver. It was also the day Tool released  Lateralus, which I first listened to with my discman, absolutely baked off my gourd in the back alley behind the club. One of my absolute favourite days of 2001!
