Waiting patiently for Suzanne Vega’s new one to arrive so I pulled my OG of her classic album Solitude Standing today for another play through. This is one of those albums that started out good (1987) and just keeps getting better with subsequent listening thru time.
Truly one of the most beautiful voices to grace the kayokyoku (歌謡曲) genre. Back in her younger idol years as a teen, she was dabbling with plenty of disco sounds, like on here. Only ¥500 in Osaka (大阪) at Banana Record!!!
While discussing the new Swiz Comp preorder spotted by @Nee Lewman on Discord Recs I got to thinking about this solid various artists D.C punk compilation benefiting Positive Force D.C from 1989. Not only is Positive Force still viable but apparently they have a 3 day event in D.C. this summer. 35 yrs later and here we still r more in the shadow of the Reagan revolution than ever. Spinning it now.
Underrated, and city pop listeners out of the loop will regret not listening when the reissue comes out (and promptly goes OOS) soon. Tatsuro's stance against streaming has been frustrating.
A cool ¥2750 in the Ochanomizu ward (お茶ノ水) in Tokyo.
